RMC Medal race remains tight at the top

FOUR players are vying for three podium spots in the Rookie Me Central Medal count, with a pair of Dandenong Stingrays stars among them. One co-captain – Cooper Hynes – is tied with Josh Smillie for first, while the other – Harvey Langford – shares equal-third with Damon Hollow.

Hynes’ two votes in Round 17 were enough to grant him pole position, as Smillie failed to add to his tally upon returning to action on Saturday. Langford also went without a vote, but Hollow bagged a pair to draw level with the Larke Medallist having inspired the Cannons to victory.

The only other 10 top candidate to have polled votes over the weekend was Bendigo Pioneers swingman James Barrat. Despite his side going down to Geelong, the 193cm talent was exceptional with 21 disposals, nine marks and a goal to move up to equal-ninth alongside Joe Berry.

Dandenong midfielder Elwood Peckett was our Player of the Week for his 25 disposals and five goals against Murray. He bagged a full three votes along with Eastern’s Christian Moraes, who posted 27 touches and five goals to take his overall tally to 11 votes – just outside the top 10.
