THE PENULTIMATE day of the Super Sixes stage of the Under 19 World Cup saw two of the three scheduled matches get underway, with some big wins registered in the matches that did get underway.
Bangladesh vs West Indies
Bangladesh finished its tournament on a high after comfortably defeating the West Indies by 10 wickets. Bangladesh first restricted the West Indies to 6/54, before Bangladesh reached the target on the penultimate ball of the ninth over.
Nishita Akter Nishi was the star with the ball for Bangladesh, taking three wickets, while Mst Anisa Akter Soba took two wickets and Jannatul Maoua took the other wicket that fell.
South Africa vs USA
Unfortunately the weather did not co-operate for South Africa and the USA, whose match was abandoned before the toss was even conducted. While the South Africans have qualified for the semis so their tournament is not over, it is an unfortunate way to end a breakthrough tournament for the Americans.
India vs Scotland
India has tuned up for the semi-finals with a massive win, beating Scotland by 150 runs. India posted a whopping 1/208 from its 20 overs before bowling out Scotland for just 58.
Trisha Gongadi was a star for India yesterday with both bat and ball. First smashing 110 off just 59 balls, she later took 3/6 from two overs. Kamalini G also had a great day with the bat and made a half century, while Aayushi Shukla took four wickets and Vaishnavi Sharma took three of them.
