2024 AFLW Week 9 Preview: Friday

WITH two perennial contenders taking to the field tonight in the AFL Women’s, tonight’s match should be highly entertaining for fans and neutrals alike.

  • Team
  • Adelaide
  • North Melbourne

7:15pm local time (7:45pm AEDT)
Norwood Oval

Recent form

Like many season prior, these two are some of the most in form teams of the competition.

North Melbourne are yet to lose outright this season, while Kuwarna has only lost twice.

Last time they met

The last time these two sides met was actually in the Preliminary Final of last season.

That particular afternoon saw a nail biting tussle, but ultimately the home side North Melbourne emerged victorious by the slimmest of margins to move through to their first ever Grand Final.

Key stat areas

When it comes to moving the ball, the Crows are more handballers than kickers, while the Kangaroos are more kickers than handballers

Although there is a large gap between the inside 50 figures of the two sides, their inside 50 efficiency figures are almost exactly the same.

Although Kuwarna has been doing better than North in both contested and uncontested possessions, Kuwarna’s stronger area is uncontested over contested while North’s is the other way around.

Key match up/s

These two sides have some of the most impressive midfields in the entire competition, and with the midfield battle being so important in any game of Australian Rules, this is sure to provide quite the show tonight.

On one side you have Anne Hatchard, Ebony Marinoff and Taylah Levy, two perennial league best and fairest contenders and a youngster having come off quite the break out game last week. Meanwhile on the other side, you have Ash Riddell, Jasmine Garner and Mia King, two perennial league best and fairest contenders and a rising star in the competition over the past couple of years.
