JUST four teams remained in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) Women’s as the 2022 semi-finals got underway. We took a look at those State Academy members from the finalists and noted down how they performed. All notes are the opinion of the individual author.

Bowler’s name?! Fleming charges into footy off the long run

“I was mainly just a fast bowler, bowled some outswingers kind of like Dad.” SHE’S handy with the ball, no matter the code. Oakleigh Chargers gun Jasmine Fleming has a name recognisable to most Australian sports lovers, and her elite pedigree is something which has proven a great support across her diverse sporting journey thus […]

2022 WAFLW Team of the Week: Round 13

IT was a case of seventh heaven for both East Fremantle and Peel Thunder in this week’s Rookie Me Central West Australian Football League (WAFL) Women’s Team of the Week for Round 13. The Sharks dominated West Perth and Peel Thunder staged the comeback of the season to pick up season-highs of seven players in […]

Double trouble for Cockatoo-Motlaps

PORT Adelaide will have double trouble for the opposition of its AFLW program next season, after signing twin sisters Laquoiya and Litonya Cockatoo-Motlap yesterday. The Queenslanders will make the trek south to represent the club their uncle Che Cockatoo-Collins proudly played for five seasons, having represented the Gold Coast Suns Academy and Queensland at the […]

WAFLW Player Focus: Georgie Cleaver (East Fremantle)

WESTERN Australia’s sole bottom-age AFLW Academy member, Georgie Cleaver is a high ceiling tall with plenty of exciting traits to make her a highly-touted prospect coming into her top-age year next year. The East Fremantle forward-ruck splits her time between football and netball at the national level, having only been able to play one AFLW […]

2022 Rookie Me Central SANFLW Team of the Year

MINOR premiers North Adelaide have set the benchmark for the 2022 Rookie Me Central South Australian National Football League (SANFL) Women’s Team of the Year. Scouting Notes: 2022 NAB League Round 6

A STANDALONE fixture made up Round 6 of the 2022 NAB League season, and it saw Tasmania down the Western Jets by 29 points at Windsor Park. On a day where the wind, and eventually rain, wreaked havoc, 17 of the 18 combined goals were kicked at one end of the ground as either side […]

Rain forces QAFLW postponements

Only two matches were able to go ahead as the Aspley and Southport grounds were unusable. The match of the round was the second Grand Final rematch of 2022, […]

RUCKING requires some of the more specific skills on the Aussie Rules football field, and West Australian tall Lauren Wakfer is learning them from some of the best. The South Fremantle product, and Fremantle Dockers fan, is gunning for this year’s AFLW Draft, hoping to walk in the footsteps of a couple key mentors. She’s […]

AFL Draft | Caught the Eye – Week 5

IT was another win for the talented Young Guns side this time against a relatively strong Vic Country Under 18s outfit, who kicked themselves out of the game with inaccuracy in front of goal. With two good wins, the mid-season draft talent pool, from Victoria at least, is strong with plenty of talent across the […]

WAFLW Round 13 wrap: Bartlett slots seven as Peel completes comeback

IT was a memorable round of West Australian Football League (WAFL) Women’s action, with Kate Bartlett stealing the show once again. The Peel Thunder forward slammed home seven goals – five in the final term, to help her side fight back from a 20-point deficit to South Fremantle and post a 14-point win. The Thunder […]

Scouting Notes: Young Guns vs. Vic Country U18s

IN their second outing for 2022, the Young Guns defeated Vic Country’s by 30 points at Princes Park on Sunday. It was a scrappy affair, but the Under 23 side made it two from two against their makeshift Under 18 opponents, after downing Metro last week. We noted some of the top performers from either […]
