When you come into your top-age season measuring in at 204cm, you would not expect a growth spurt, but that is exactly what happened with now 207cm Swans Academy ruck Caleb May. The big man strikes an imposing figure, and all 109kg of his frame makes him hard to move off the line of the ball, or beat in one-on-one contests.

Like plenty of Northern Academy rucks before him, May is effective at the stoppages, and has a high work rate which allows him to get from contest to contest. That, along with his size and strength makes him a difficult matchup for any junior opponent.

Naturally, players at 207cm and 109kg are not the most athletic types going around, and that is the tradeoff for his strength and size. As a raw ruck still developing his overall game, May is most likely to be a free hit for the Swans on their Cat B list.
