Perhaps somewhat of a forgotten prospect among the South Australian cohort, Lachlan Scannell has shown enough over the last few years to suggest he remains in the thoughts of AFL recruiters. The smooth moving Glenelg wingman managed just three SANFL Under 18 games as a top-ager, with his campaign hampered by injury. It's easy to forget, then, just how highly he was being spoken of after impressing in under-age showcases in his home state.

Scannell is an outside leaning midfielder who mostly finds a home on the wing. There, he leans on his high level running capacity to work up and down the ground. His endurance base was showcased at the recent draft combine, where Scannell registered an impressive 5:49 time over 2km - the best in South Australia. He blends that work rate with class in possession, using his height to mark and impressing most when afforded time and space.

At 186cm, he fits the mould of new age wingmen who are becoming increasingly important at the top level. He has decent height, can run both ways, and uses the ball well. There may be some contested acumen to iron out and there is only a small sample size to work with, but Scannell deserves to be in the mix come draft time for his previous feats.
