Now at Round 5, and with a competition wide bye next weekend, it is the last chance for some teams to get some momentum before a well earned break.

Collingwood vs Port Melbourne
Tomorrow at 9:45am
Victoria Park

These two sides come into the clash off the back of very different results last weekend. Collingwood was outclassed against Hawthorn, and will be desperate to get back on the winners list and return to the kind of form they’ve had in previous seasons.

Port Melbourne on the other hand, after a start to the season it would rather forget finally got a win on the board last week against Carlton.

Collingwood do gain some very handy talent from its AFLW side, including the likes of Ebony O’Dea and Eloise Chaston, but the Magpies need to improve their clearance game from last week and try and get it down to their forward line.

They come up against a Port Melbourne forward line who is dangerous on paper, but has at times been starved of opportunities this season.

Western Bulldogs vs Hawthorn
Tomorrow at 10:45am
Whitten Oval

This is another clash between two sides coming off very different results last week. The Western Bulldogs’ season is just going from bad to worse, while Hawthorn was clinical in their win over the Pies last week.

Unfortunately for Bulldogs fans this is anticipated to be a one-sided affair. The Bulldogs have not given fans much this year to suggest they could take down a side like Hawthorn, which although not AFL- aligned yet is still stacked with former and future AFLW stars.

Geelong vs Casey
Tomorrow at 12pm
Deakin Uni, Geelong

Two of the in-form teams of the competition will do battle in Geelong tomorrow afternoon as the Cats take on the Dees. Geelong suffered a shock loss last week, while the Dees are still undefeated, so expect an entertaining battle.

It is the battle of the Caris sisters in the ruck, as Dee Maggie drops back to the VFLW and has to come up against her sister Rene, the Cats number one ruck.

Both sides are stacked with plenty of AFLW talent, and with that talent spread across the ground it should make for some entertaining battles right across the ground.

Darebin vs Carlton
Tomorrow at 4pm
Ikon Park

Darebin come into this clash off the back of its second win of the season last week, and now percentage is the only thing keeping them outside the top six. Carlton on the other hand suffered a loss last week, which in turn gave the Borough their first win of the season.

This is a very winnable game for both sides, so it could go either way. There is no obvious dominance or weaknesses on either side, and although there is plenty of AFLW talent in Carlton’s side, the Blues have not been very dominant for the VFLW side in previous weeks so it shouldn’t be so daunting for the Falcons.

Essendon vs Southern Saints
Sunday at 11am
The Hangar

The team to beat in the opening month of the season up against the side that’s been causing plenty of upsets so far this season. Should be an entertaining clash.

Fresh off being announced as Essendon’s inaugural AFLW player, Georgia Nanscawen is being “managed” and will not play, so that certainly makes things easier for the Saints, but they still have to contend with the very dangerous Essendon forward line that’s not easy to contain.

North Melbourne vs Williamstown
Sunday at 12:30pm
Arden St Oval

The VFLW rounds out the weekend with another clash that really could go either way. North Melbourne has really struggled this year, but Williamstown have not been too crash hot either.

North Melbourne has some great young AFLW talent in its side this week, but much like Carlton it has not been a huge advantage to the Roos in previous weeks, so they will need to mix it up this week to ensure a victory.

Mentions

Ebony O’Dea

El Chaston

Maggie Caris

Rene Caris

Georgia Nanscawen

IT is Friday again, which means we are coming up to another weekend of exciting VFLW action for fans to enjoy.
