<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div>\nSubiaco<\/a> did what it needed to do against the winless West Perth<\/a>, but there was plenty to take out of it from both sides. The Falcons were impacted by Health and Safety Protocols leading into the game, and were vastly understrength, that compounded the already crucial losses of Liliana Grassenis<\/a> and Kayla Van Den Heever<\/a>. Despite this, the Falcons recorded their highest score with 2.1 (13) becoming the first time they had kicked multiple goals in a WAFL Women’s League match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though gallant in defeat, take nothing away from title contenders Subiaco, who slotted seven goals in the second half to build on a 33-point half-time margin, and run away with the contest to win by 68 points. There were plenty of contributors for the Lions in the victory, as Hayley Corlett<\/a> slotted 3.3 from 19 disposals, five marks, three tackles and four inside 50s in a dominant forward display, whilst the usual suspects in Tarnica Golisano<\/a> (25 disposals, seven tackles and six inside 50s), Jayme Harken<\/a> (24 disposals, two tackles, three inside 50s and a goal) and Madizen Wilkins<\/a> (23 disposals, two marks, four tackles and six inside 50s) alls had big numbers. Madison Dodd<\/a>, Tess Lyons<\/a> and Nyra Anderson<\/a> were also among the better Lions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Falcons had a new club disposal record holder with Grace Betti<\/a> amassing 26 touches, four marks and five tackles, whilst defender Kayla Stagg<\/a> had 22 disposals, six marks and four tackles battling hard once again. Jekylah Garlett<\/a> (14 disposals, five marks), Elissa Price<\/a> (11 disposals, seven hitouts, two inside 50s and a goal) and Jeevna Heer<\/a> (10 disposals, two marks and two tackles) also hit double-figure disposals, whilst Mahli Turland<\/a> laid a match-high eight tackles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subiaco will host the undefeated East Fremantle on Sunday, whilst on the same day, West Perth will take on reigning premiers Peel Thunder who have hit a slump with three consecutive losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div>\nA six-goal haul to 18-year-old Julia Teakle<\/a> has steered her undefeated East Fremantle<\/a> side to victory in yesterday’s Fremantle derby. After a tight opening half, the Sharks put the foot down to slam home the last five goals of the match and run out 38-point winners over a gallant South Fremantle<\/a> outfit. The Sharks only lead by six extra behinds at the main break, but then found their kicking boots after the main break, slotting 5.3 to 0.1 to run away with the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Teakle’s six goals was clearly a highlight, with five of them coming in the space of 20 minutes from the opening two minutes of the third term until 79 seconds into the fourth term to blow the margin from six points out to 36 points in the blink of an eye. Aside from her goal haul, fellow teenager Georgie Cleaver<\/a> slotted the other major from 13 disposals, four marks, five tackles and two inside 50s. Finding their usual quota of the pill was the midfield contingent of Ashleigh Gomes<\/a> (23 disposals, two marks and six tackles), Sharon Wong<\/a> (19 disposals, two marks, eight tackles and two inside 50s) and Madeline Ross<\/a> (17 disposals, two tackles), whilst youngster Taya Chambers<\/a> amassed 17 disposals, two marks and two tackles from the defensive half, and Larissa Versaci<\/a> had a match-high seven marks and seven inside 50s to go with 16 touches and four tackles in the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Fremantle had an even contribution across the board, with Liusaidh Gilchrist<\/a> and Kiara Templeman<\/a> both picking up 18 disposals, two marks and two tackles, whilst Casey Byrne<\/a> had a tough job in defence. Lauren Wakfer<\/a> (13 disposals, two marks, two tackles and 18 hitouts) and Poppy Stockwell<\/a> (12 disposals, four marks, three tackles and three inside 50s) were impressive, as were dangerous small forward Noa McNaughton<\/a> (10 disposals, four marks, four inside 50s and a goal) and Pia Durk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
East Fremantle will look to defeat the last remaining side it is yet to face in the 2022 WAFL Women’s season, when the Sharks take on Subiaco next Sunday, whilst South Fremantle hosts Swan Districts on Saturday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div>\nA seven goals to one first half set up an impressive 39-point win to Claremont<\/a> over reigning premiers Peel Thunder<\/a> yesterday. The Tigers lead by nine points at quarter time, then piled on five goals to nil in the second term to open up a 38-point lead at the main break. Adding to that advantage in the premiership quarter, the Tigers slotted 4.1 to 1.0 to blow the advantage out to a massive 57-point lead, before three last quarter goals saved the Thunder some percentage, but still went down with Claremont getting up 11.6 (72) to 5.3 (33).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coming good in front of goal after building the last few weeks, Brooke Whyte<\/a> slotted 5.1 from six kicks – nine disposals – and four marks. The midfield of Sasha Goranova<\/a> (21 disposals, four marks, two tackles and three inside 50s) and Katherine Orme<\/a> (21 disposals, four marks, two tackles and three inside 50s) both had scoring chances, whilst Madeleine Scanlon<\/a> (17 disposals, four marks and three inside 50s) and Tess Blackburn<\/a> (14 disposals, five marks) also shone. Returning to the side this week, Jacinta Valentini<\/a> (12 disposals, five marks and three goals) shared the load with Orme up forward, whilst Matilda Dyke<\/a> battled through the ruck for 10 touches, 13 hitouts and three inside 50s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Thunder midfield battled hard throughout the contest to actually record three more inside 50s, with Chloe Wrigley<\/a> leading all-comers with her 20 disposals, four marks, six tackles and four inside 50s. Also finding their faire share of the ball were Greta McKinley<\/a> (14 disposals, three tackles and two inside 50s), Jaide Britton<\/a> (14 disposals, three marks, four tackles and two inside 50s) and Krystal Carter<\/a> (13 disposals, four marks, seven tackles and two inside 50s) who were all prolific. Potential top draft pick Ella Roberts<\/a> also made her WAFL Women’s return, picking up 13 disposals, three marks, for tackles and booting 1.1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Claremont is the last team to have a bye in the WAFL Women’s 2022 season next week, whilst Peel Thunder will eye off a much-needed win against the last placed West Perth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
