THERE were some one-sided results in Round 6 of the West Australian Football League (WAFL) Women’s competition, though it was still an even spread across our Team of the Week. Many individual performers stood up regardless of results across the board, and it was Claremont<\/a> and Subiaco<\/a> that emerged with the most representatives in our side, notching up five, whilst fellow winner East Fremantle<\/a>, as well as South Fremantle<\/a> and Peel Thunder<\/a>, all had four. Meanwhile West Perth<\/a> had multiple players for the first time in the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leading out the side this week is East Fremantle’s Julia Teakle<\/a> who slotted six goals from seven scoring shots and was terrific across the board defensively as well. She was joined in the side by fellow Sharks, Ashleigh Gomes<\/a>, Georgie Cleaver<\/a> and Madeline Ross<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vice-captain this week was Subiaco’s Tarnica Golisano<\/a>, and the Lions make up the entire centreline, with the crunch for on-ballers evident. Aside from Golisano, her teammates Jayme Harken<\/a> and Madizen Wilkins<\/a> both made the starting side, as did Hayley Corlett<\/a> (who kicked 3.3) up forward. Fellow forward, Nyra Anderson<\/a> secured a spot on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claremont also had the five representatives, with a couple of forwards in Brooke Whyte<\/a> (five goals) and Jacinta Valentini<\/a> (three) really dominating the Peel Thunder defence. Also in the side is Madeleine Scanlon<\/a>, named on a half-back flank, with wing Katherine Orme<\/a> on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peel Thunder had the four representatives as well despite the disappointing defeat, with defender Cassie Davidson<\/a> in again, and excitement machine Ella Roberts<\/a> returning from a long-term injury with plenty of promise. Chloe Wrigley<\/a> and Krystal Carter<\/a> made the Team of the Week again, this time on the bench due to the strength in midfield and attack across the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Fremantle’s quartet of players included exciting youngsters Noa McNaughton<\/a> (forward pocket) and Lauren Wakfer<\/a> in the ruck, whilst defender Zoe Wakfer<\/a> was named in a back pocket, in the same back six as Pia Durk<\/a>. Rounding out the 24-player squad is a couple of West Perth players in full-back Kayla Stagg<\/a>, and cross-coder Grace Betti<\/a> who racked up a club-record 26 disposals on the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three emergencies for Round 6 were South Fremantle’s Molly O’Hehir<\/a>, Claremont’s Tess Blackburn<\/a> and East Fremantle’s Larissa Versaci<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
