THE 2022 Rookie Me Central SANFL Women’s Team of the Year squad is in. A total of 48 players have been selected from those who accrued the most Team of the Week selections throughout the year, with a final 24 to be named next Tuesday night. There was a minimum of six games required to make the squad as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All teams have at least five representatives in the squad, with minor premiers North Adelaide<\/a> and reigning premiers and third placed side Glenelg<\/a> earning seven apiece. Other finalists, Sturt<\/a> and South Adelaide<\/a> have six players in the squad, as do Central District<\/a> and Woodville-West Torrens<\/a>. Norwood<\/a> and West Adelaide<\/a> recorded the five players each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the players named include a host of State Academy members including AFLW Academy representatives and 2022 AFLW Under 18 All-Australians, North Adelaide’s Hannah Ewings<\/a>, West Adelaide’s Keeley Kustermann<\/a> and Woodville-West Torrens’ Shineah Goody<\/a>. Another All-Australian in Central District’s Georgia McKee<\/a>, whilst state representatives Charlotte Riggs<\/a> (central District), Piper Window<\/a> (Glenelg), Lana Schwerdt<\/a> (Norwood), Shae Archbold<\/a> (South Adelaide) and Kiera Mueller<\/a> (Sturt) made the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking at last year’s 2021 Rookie Me Central SANFL Women’s Team of the Year, a total of 13 players are up for contention to make it again, whilst three players – North Adelaide’s Kristi Harvey<\/a>, Central District’s Shelby Smith<\/a> and Glenelg’s Tessa Kohn<\/a> – are bidding to become three-time RM Central Team of the Year representatives. Additionally, Ewings, Kustermann and North Adelaide’s Katelyn Pope<\/a> are in line to make it for the second time having made it in 2020, but not 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those players with six or more Team of the Week nominations (13 players) will automatically qualify for the team, whilst the remaining 11 spots will be picked on a combination of overall performance throughout the year, and needs to fill within the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
