DAY Five of the AFLW Trade and Signing Period brought no trades but plenty of exciting signing news. The signing news was particularly exciting for fans of Collingwood and the Gold Coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Firstly to the Gold Coast, who signed three of a possible four mature aged signings they could sign as part of their concession package from the AFL..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They have picked up Georgia Clayden<\/strong>, Gabrielle Biedenweg-Webster<\/a> and Krystal Scott<\/a> to their list for their next season, and they can sign one more mature age recruit as part of their concession package from the AFL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Scott, the only Queenslander of the trio, is a defender that has been recruited from Bond University in the QAFLW. She was previously listed by Brisbane has a background in elite tennis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Biedenweg-Webster was recruited from Williamstown in the VFLW and is also a defender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Clayden has a fairly extensive sporting background, and was recruited out of the AFL Canberra competition, from Ainslie. She has played representative netball and volleyball in both Canberra and for Australia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Over to Collingwood now, and Tasmanian cricket star Emily Smith<\/strong> is now a Pie, after signing on as a cross-coder rookie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Originally from Melbourne, Smith has been playing her cricket as of late in Tasmania, and was a member of the WNCL title winning Tasmanian Tigers side in the summer just gone and also plays in the WBBL for the Hobart Hurricanes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Smith is no stranger to footy, having played in the now defunct Victorian Women’s Football League back in the early 2010s. She played for the St Albans Spurs and the St Kilda Sharks, and made the Victorian Youth Girls side that won the National Championships four years running. She also made the Youth Girls All Australian side in 2013 and the Victorian Under-21 side the following year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n
