THE SANDRINGHAM Dragons and Dandenong Stingrays are well represented in our NAB League Team of the Week for Round 10, boasting four players apiece. Check out who made the full 24-man squad, and three emergency spots below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n One of four Sandringham guns who collected over 30 disposals on Sunday, Cameron Mackenzie<\/a> was simply superb in his side’s win. Though his skipper notched a whopping 51 touches, the St Kilda Next Generation Academy member was arguably best on ground from midfield with 35 disposals, seven marks, six tackles, five inside 50s and a goal. Mackenzie’s breakaway passages and elite kicking inside 50 were features of his play, which have him rising up draft boards and out of the Saints’ reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n DEFENDERS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n There is plenty of rebound run and distributive skill among this week’s back six. Bendigo Pioneers bottom-ager Harley Reid<\/a> was thrown to defence and did everything he could to get his side over the line, earning a spot as arguably the pick of this hypothetical bunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Holding up key position slots despite losses are Jed Rule<\/a> and Arie Schoenmaker<\/a>. The former showcased his intercept nous with nine marks, while the latter clunked 13 but stood out most with his game-high 25 kicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also transitioning the ball out of defence this week were Osca Riccardi<\/a>, Callum Verrell<\/a>, and Joel Fitzgerald<\/a>. Playing his first game for the Knights this season, over-ager Fitzgerald showed some of the learnings he’s taken on board in his time with Essendon VFL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n MIDFIELDERS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n With this week’s captain, Mackenzie at the heart of midfield it would have been easy to fill out the remaining spots with Sandringham teammates. One finds his way into our on-ball mix, and he was undeniable after gathering 51 disposals. Will Ashcroft<\/a>, ladies and gentlemen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With two Dragons on the inside, there are also two Stingrays on the outside. Lachlan Robinson<\/a> featured with three goals from the wing in Dandenong’s mammoth win over Tasmania, while bottom-ager Sam Frangalas<\/a> showed his power as a mid-forward but has been squeezed onto a wing in our lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rounding out the on-ball crew, Geelong Falcons skipper Jhye Clark<\/a> was impossible to overlook after racking up a game-high 33 disposals, while Oakleigh Chargers ruck Hudson O’Keeffe<\/a> dominated with 40 of a total 69 hitouts in his side’s loss to Greater Western Victoria (GWV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n FORWARDS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Two Rebels with a cause front our forward line for Round 10, having combined for 10 of GWV’s 13 goals this week. First round prospect Aaron Cadman<\/a> is one after slotting four majors from eight scoring shots, while Brady Wright<\/a> was a sharpshooter for his six-straight six-pointers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sandringham also contributed its own pair to the attacking line, with Harry Sheezel<\/a> and Charlie Clarke<\/a> putting up big numbers as absolute headaches for the Western Jets defence. A couple of smalls round out the crew too, after Geelong’s Euriah Hollard<\/a> kicked a spectacular six goals and Northern’s Jason McCormick<\/a> snared four in a losing effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n INTERCHANGE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n With spots in midfield hard to come by, a few prime movers have been squeezed onto the bench. The likes of Braden Andrews<\/a>, Noah Bradshaw<\/a>, and Taj Campbell-Farrell<\/a> are repeat entrants who again accumulated plenty of possessions, proving consistent figures for their respective regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bradshaw is joined by teammate Nicholas Quigg<\/a>, who was also prolific in Murray’s 10-point triumph, while Campbell-Farrell features alongside fellow Stingray Jesse Davidson-Lopo<\/a>, who booted a bag of five goals in Round 10.
