BOND University and Southport will battle it out in a highlight of Round 13 of the Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) Women’s competition. The Bull Sharks will host the league’s newest side and fellow Sharks from 12pm tomorrow. Both sides have had some outstanding moments this season, and have a number of AFLW Draft relevant prospects for both this year and the future years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though they have not all been playing of late, Southport has seen the likes of Fleur Davies<\/a> and Alana Gee<\/a> don the colours, with fellow Suns Academy members Jasmyn Smith<\/a> and Imogen Evans<\/a> running out for Bond University. The Bull Sharks also saw Laquoiya Cockatoo-Motlap<\/a> and Litonya Cockatoo-Motlap<\/a> drafted to Port Adelaide earlier this year, with Sienna McMullen<\/a> a future name to remember. For the Sharks, Fleur’s younger sister Darcie Davies<\/a> is also one to note down for next year, showing the depth that both sides have. Bond’s Josie McCabe<\/a> will also play her second game since injuring herself at the AFLW Under 18 Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From an AFLW perspective, talented Lions forward Mikayla Pauga<\/a> has been named in the game, with the dangerous Jasmyn Davidson<\/a> and experienced Lateesha Jeffrey<\/a> also on the team sheer. Along with Darcie Davies, the Sharks have Akayla Peterson<\/a> and Georgia Breward<\/a> as ones who could impact the match, with the game critical in the lead-up to finals. Southport is second on 28 points, the same amount as Bond University, but have a game in hand with only nine played compared to the Bull Sharks’ 10. Both sides still sit six points adrift of the top of the table University of Queensland who are on 34 points, albeit from 11 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In other matches, Maroochydore and Aspley looks to be the pick of the bunch, with the likes of Mikayla Martin<\/strong> and Lily Postlethwaite<\/a> really impressing through the midfield for the Roos, against future AFLW talents in Ella Smith<\/a> and Charlotte Mullins<\/a>. Maroochydore also have AFLW Draft hopeful Kiara Hillier<\/a> running out for the Roos, with Sophie Peters<\/a> one to remember for net year. Abby Hewett<\/a> and Lilu Hung<\/a> are other players who can be dangerous on their day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile the ladder-leading Red Lionesses will travel to take on seventh placed Yeronga South Brisbane, with Ava Seton<\/a> and Kadie Fletcher<\/a> among those running around for the top side. Christine Okesene<\/a> and Lucy Bellinger<\/a> are ones impressing for the Devils. Finally, Coorparoo is expected to bounce back from its heavy defeat at the hands of Maroochydore last week to put away the winless Wilston Grange at home.
