They got very few inside 50s deep enough to even have an attempt at goal, which is why they went scoreless for the quarter and Bond Uni’s lead stood at 17 at the main break.

The really started to set in in the second half, so the conditions just got that much harder.

Zali Cheffers had the chance to finally get a major on the board for the home side in the opening minutes of the third quarter but her kick was touched on the line.

However, it wasn’t too much longer that Southport had to wait for their first major, when Meg McGuiness soccered one off the deck only two minutes later.

Much of the quarter was played between the 50m arcs, so scoring opportunities were not aplenty for either side.

Georgia Eller kicked Southport’s second for the term in the final couple of minutes of the term and suddenly the margin was back down to five points.

Momentum had certainly shifted in the Sharks’ favour, and as the teams turned for home it was not clear who was going to ultimately win.

Unlike the weather, the scoring really dried up in the final term.

Much of the play was again between the 50m arcs, so neither side really got a decent shot at goal.

Both sides only managed a behind each in the final term, so in the end it was the Bull sharks who got the chocolates.

Mentions

THERE may have only been one match in the QAFLW on the weekend, but it was sure as hell an entertaining one.
