GIVEN the short turnaround between seasons and the first of many 50-game AFL Women’s players achieving the feat last season, we take a look at those players in line to potentially reach it in Season 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Round 1 has a whopping seven players in line to earn their 50th game, with some all-time stars and some players in fresh colours potentially running through a banner. Carlton goal sneak Darcy Vescio<\/strong> will fittingly play their 50th game against the side they played in their first match, Collingwood in the opening game of the season. Crows ball magnet and reigning grand final best on ground Anne Hatchard<\/strong> will get her chance in front of home fans at Norwood Oval the day after in a grand final rematch against the Dees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fremantle duo Ebony Antonio<\/strong> and Gabby O’Sullivan<\/strong> and Brisbane’s Shannon Campbell<\/strong> will get their opportunity against each other at The Gabba. Two players running out in new colours will also achieve the feat, with ex-Dee now Cat Shelley Scott<\/strong> to achieve the feat against Richmond at GMHBA Stadium, whilst Port Adelaide’s inaugural match in the West against the Eagles will also mark ex-Crow Justine Mules<\/strong>‘ 50th match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While there will be no new milestones in Round 2 – barring any of the above missing Round 1 – Round 3 has a couple of huge potential 50-gamers, with Carlton ruck Breann Moody<\/strong> set to play her 50th game – also at Ikon Park like Vescio – against Port Adelaide. Meanwhile Western Bulldogs skipper Ellie Blackburn <\/strong>will become the first Dog to notch up 50 games, and fans will be able to flock to Ikon Park on Friday, September 9 for the Bulldogs’ clash against Fremantle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Collective milestones do not get much bigger than in Round 4, when Port recruits and star talents Erin Phillips <\/strong>and Gemma Houghton<\/strong> run out for their 50th games. The Power host the Swans at Alberton Oval for that match, a fitting venue for Phillips who sees the ground as a “second home”. Fremantle’s Kara Antonio<\/strong> will play her 50th game against the lies, with Melbourne’s Lily Mithen <\/strong>earning her milestone at Casey Fields against the Lions, while Kirsty Lamb<\/strong> follows one game behind Blackburn and will make 50 games at Box Hill against the Hawks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Round 5’s match between Carlton and Melbourne will have respective 50-gamers, with the Blues’ Gabriella Pound<\/strong> and the Dees’ Lauren Pearce<\/strong> both hitting the milestone. Collingwood’s Stacey Livingstone <\/strong>will become the first Pie to reach 50 games – with Brittany Bonnici<\/a> stuck on 49 games before injuring her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) – when Collingwood hosts Essendon on Friday, September 23, AFL Men’s Grand Final Parade day. Livingstone will be followed by her captain Steph Chiocci <\/strong>in Round 6 who will face off against the Saints, while Essendon recruit Steph Cain<\/strong> will meet the Lions in Queensland for her 50th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another 15 players could potentially reach their 50th games in Season 7 with Melbourne’s Daisy Pearce<\/strong> (Round 8 vs Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium) among them. Carlton captain Kerryn Harrington<\/strong>, ex-Blue now Saint Nicola Stevens<\/strong> and Demon Kate Hore <\/strong>will set to feature in their 50th games around that time, as will Crows’ Marijana Rajcic<\/strong> and Magpie Sophie Casey<\/strong>.
