Except, Round 3 is unlike most others.

In the midst of the Easter weekend, a trio of fixtures will kick off proceedings on Friday, truly spreading out the action for footy fans.

The action begins early out in Williamstown when the Seagulls take on Port Melbourne.

After spending the opening fortnight of the season on the road, the Seagulls are back home and they are set to take on a Borough side full of confidence after its win against Collingwood last week.

Will Port be able to navigate the wind of DSV Stadium and make it two wins in a row, or will the Seagulls use home ground advantage and get on the board in 2023?

Next up tomorrow it is the Bulldogs and Kangaroos battling it out at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne.

North Melbourne is enjoying a great start to the season, and while the Bulldogs are still winless they have come pretty close in both their opening matches, surprising plenty, so although the script may suggest a Kangaroos win that may not be what eventuates.

The third of tomorrow’s clashes is on the other side of town as Casey hosts Collingwood.

In a replay of last year’s Elimination Final, will Collingwood be able to bury the demons of the last trip it made down the South Gippsland Freeway and bounce back from last week’s shock loss with a win? Or will Casey go from strength to strength off the back of last weekend’s result and remain undefeated?

First up on Saturday the Falcons have to make the trip down the freeway to take on Geelong down at Deakin University. These two sides could not be coming off more different results, so will that play a part in this weekend’s result? The Falcons are likely to get back a few of their best players, but will that make enough of a difference?

The second of the matches on Saturday sees fierce rivals Essendon take on Carlton out at The Hangar.

This clash could be particularly interesting. Essendon will come into the clash frustrated off the back of its first loss in over a year, while Carlton comes in off the back of losing a match it should have won against Geelong. Which team will respond best and nab the win?

The final match of the weekend is down at Moorabbin on Sunday at the Saints host the Hawks.

The Saints will come into this match full of confidence after winning last weekend’s Grand Final rematch and handing Essendon their first loss in over a year, while Box Hill suffered quite the scare against the Bulldogs last week. The Saints have had two big wins to start the year, while Box Hill has really had to work hard the last two weeks to salvage results.

VFL Women’s Round 3 Fixture

Williamstown vs Port Melbourne – Friday at 10am – DSV Stadium
Western Bulldogs vs North Melbourne – Friday at 11am – ETU Stadium
Casey vs Collingwood – Friday at at 12pm – Casey Fields
Geelong vs Darebin – Saturday at 12pm – Deakin Uni, Geelong
Essendon vs Carlton – Saturday at 1pm – The Hangar
Southern Saints vs Box Hill – Sunday at 3pm – RSEA Park

Mentions

ANOTHER weekend, another exciting round of VFL Women’s action.
