One side will pick up their first win this weekend, and a win could be just what the doctor ordered to propel the victorious team’s season forward.

The action continues tomorrow morning in Port Melbourne when the Bulldogs take on the Borough in what some might call the temporary North Port Oval Derby.

Port has had a pretty solid start to the season, but the Bulldogs will be buoyed by the way they picked up their first win in over a year last year, so this could be a potentially enthralling match.

It is up to North Melbourne for the third match on tomorrow’s calendar, where the Kangaroos will be taking on Carlton.

These two teams could not be coming into this clash off more different results, which perhaps adds to the intrigue surrounding the potential result of the match. Both sides have had pretty decent starts to the season, but North was outplayed last week, so will Carlton continue that trend or will North Melbourne bounce back?

The action starts nice and early on Sunday when the Southern Saints host Geelong.

Before last weekend’s action, this particular clash would have looked a bit different on paper. The Saints are now no longer undefeated, so Geelong has a blueprint now of how to defeat the Saints.

However, travel may also play a factor in this game. The match starts at 9:45am, and with Sandringham being on the complete opposite side of the bay to Geelong, that is going to mean an extremely early morning is instore for the Cats. Can the Saints exploit that to take the win?

The middle match on Sunday is a replay of one of last year’s semi finals when the Bombers host the Dees.

Both sides are coming off less than ideal performances, but Casey has a perfect opportunity to rewrite last year’s result. Essendon are not as strong as it was in 2022, and has suffered more losses this season already than it has in over a year. Will Casey take inspiration from the Saints and Blues and nab the win, or will the Bombers end the losing run and get things back on track?

The round concludes in Box Hill on Sunday afternoon when the Hawks host the Magpies.

Unlike the previous game, both sides in this one are coming off huge confidence boosting wins, so the question will be who can maintain that and take this one out. It is a strong defence of Collingwood versus a strong attack of the Hawks, but which one will ultimately prevail?

VFL Women’s Round 4 Fixture

Williamstown vs Darebin – Saturday at 10am – DSV Stadium

Port Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs – Saturday at 10:30am – ETU Stadium

North Melbourne vs Carlton – Saturday at 1pm – Arden St Oval

Southern Saints vs Geelong – Sunday at 9:45am – Trevor Barker Oval

Essendon vs Casey – Sunday at 11am – The Hangar

Box Hill vs Collingwood – Sunday at 3:30pm – Box Hill City Oval

Mentions

IT is Friday once again, which means another round of exciting VFL Women’s action is just around the corner.
