A DOMINANT performance from Oakleigh Chargers resulted in a season-high seven players in our Rookie Me Central Coates Talent League Girls Team of the Week for Round 6. The Chargers had two more players than Eastern Ranges (five), with Northern Knights (four) ahead of the three losing sides who combined for one third of the 24 players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oakleigh Chargers dominated the clash against Calder Cannons with both wingers in this instant coming from the club. Sarah Poustie<\/a> – who also spent time on-ball – and Amy Cariss-Brett<\/a> flank Eastern midfielder Laura Stone<\/a> in the centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Up forward, smalls Maiya Stobie<\/a> and Lily Hart<\/a> combined for seven goals, while key forward Emma McDonald<\/a> looked imposing at centre half-forward. Rounding out the seven players were defender Lara Hausegger<\/a> and midfielder Maggie Mahony<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eastern Ranges’ unbeaten streak continued and they had another five players in the team of the week, headlined by defender Ava Campbell<\/a> at centre half-back. Ruck Jess Vukic<\/a> joined Stone in the midfield, while star small forward Alyssia Pisano<\/a> and winger Hayley McLaughlin<\/a> also made the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Captain this week went to Western Jets’ Sierra Grieves<\/a> who took her place on-ball. Her partner-in-crime and fellow bottom-ager Lou-Lou Field<\/a> was named at half-back with skipper Kiera Whiley<\/a> on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Northern Knights defeated the Jets and had four players in the Team of the Week. Defender Hannah Scott<\/a> was named in the back pocket, Tahlia Plunkett<\/a> at half-forward, and due to the strength of the midfield in Round 6, Zoe Hargreaves<\/a> and Suwindi Buckley<\/a> were named on the interchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sandringham Dragons defender Annabelle Embelton<\/a> anchors the team at full-back, with opposite bookend Mia Zielinski<\/a> at full-forward. The third member of the Dragons to slot into the side was Carlton father-daughter prospect Sophie McKay<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Calder Cannons duo, midfielder Kayley Kavanagh<\/a> and defender Adalita Pizzinga<\/a> complete the squad of 24, with midfielder\/forward Kyla Forbes<\/a> named as one of the emergencies.
