FOR the first time in the 2023 SANFL Women’s season, a losing side headlines the most representatives in our Team of the Week. In Round 11, Sturt went down by a point, but its top-end talent did all it could to get back into the contest against South Adelaide, earning five representatives. All four winning sides, as well as losing outfit North Adelaide had three players in the squad, while West Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens had the two apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sturt might have fallen short in its quest for victory, but midfielder Isobel Kuiper<\/a> was outstanding, earning our captaincy for Round 11, racking up 27 disposals, three marks, nine tackles, 13 clearances, two inside 50s and four rebound 50s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kuiper was joined in the midfield by teammate and skipper Kate Harris<\/a>, while forward-midfielder India Rasheed<\/a> squeezed into half-forward given the strength of the midfield this week. Defender Hannah Prenzler<\/a> caught the eye in the back 50, while goalsneak Alysha Healy<\/a> kicked two goals and made it onto the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n North Adelaide co-captain Jessica Edwards<\/a> completes the on-ball brigade with Norwood’s Tahlita Buethke<\/a> and South Adelaide’s Caitlin Couch<\/a> flanking her on the wings. The Panthers had an even spread of contributors in the victory over the Double Blues, as key forward Jorja Hooper<\/a> and ruck Soriah Moon<\/a> also made the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Norwood’s victory resulted in midfielders Buethke and Tesharna Maher<\/a> – who kicked two goals in the win – as well as defender Ashlee Gould<\/a> named in the side, while Lana Schwerdt<\/a> only just missed out due to the strength of the on-ball group this week. Fellow onballer Brooke Boileau<\/a> was another emergency, impressing for three quarters before unfortunately going off injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alongside Edwards, fellow Roosters co-captain Kristi Harvey<\/a> was named at full-back yet again, while Brittany Perry<\/a> made it onto the bench. Also in defence was standout Central District rebounder Madison Lane<\/a>, with teammates Katelyn Rosenzweig<\/a> and Jasmine Evans<\/a> both slotting three goals and named in the front six. Dogs’ winger Laitiah Huynh<\/a> was named as the other emergency in this week’s team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Glenelg was the other winning side on the weekend, and defender Poppy Scholz<\/a> came up clutch in some big moments late in the match.
