ALL four QAFL Women’s matches will take place in a Super Saturday at Giffin Park tomorrow, with spectators able to enjoy the best on offer from the state league. Starting at 10am and running through until 6pm, the round marks the last chance for teams to stake a finals claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WILSTON GRANGE vs. SOUTHPORT The opening game of the day appears to be a straightforward one, with ladder leaders Southport back on track following a win over Maroochydore. The Sharks suffered their first defeat of the season against Bond University the week before, but managed to get past the Roos up north and now clash with the Gorillas who have slumped to sixth on the ladder. If the Gorillas do lose as expected, they are officially ruled out of the finals race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maggie O’Connell<\/a> is currently leading the goalkicking race and will be the one to watch up forward for the Sharks, while Steph O’Brien<\/a> continues to be a headache for all opposition coaches. Gemma Donataccio<\/strong> has enjoyed an impressive year for the Gorillas, while young gun Mia Geere<\/a> has had an eye-catching debut season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND vs. MAROOCHYDORE The biggest game of the day is the clash between the reigning premiers and the Roos, with a last chance saloon set for the Red Lionesses. A loss, and the finals race is set with University of Queensland missing out on defending its title. For the Roos, their ship has sailed in terms of the post-season series, but they can still cause some damage starting with their opponents this round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ava Seton<\/a> is among the league best and fairest contenders as a clear star for the Red Lionesses, having been near best-on for her club just about every week. For Maroochydore, that player has been Sara-Jane O’Grady<\/a>. Gracie Champion<\/strong> will be called upon as a forward target for the reigning premiers, while Grace Perry<\/strong> is leading the Roos’ goalkicking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n YERONGA SOUTH BRISBANE vs. ASPLEY Hoping to not go through the season winless, Yeronga South Brisbane faces a tough task to get the job done here, taking on the impressive Aspley Hornets. Though the Hornets went down to Bond University last week and now are six points adrift of the top two, they should be too strong for the Devils who will collect this year’s wooden spoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jessica Stallard<\/strong> (15 goals) and Rachael Vetter<\/strong> (14) are in contention for the leading goalkicker award this season, and are key targets inside 50 for the Hornets. It has been a tough year for the Devils, but the likes of Peppa Poultney<\/a> and Camilla Burnett<\/strong> have been amongst the best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n COORPAROO vs. BOND UNIVERSITY Completing the huge day of action, Bond University will hope to gain some additional confidence by taking out fourth placed Coorparoo. The Kings are at their home patch so should have plenty of support, but there is also a lot on the line. A loss will almost certainly guarantee fourth spot rather than challenging for third, while a win could keep a mathematical probability of second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Isabella Iverach<\/a> (15 goals) is another player in contention for the leading goalkicker award, as the Bond University sharpshooter might go head-to-head with Chelsea Chesterfield <\/strong>(11) who is coming off a big game. Lily Tarlinton<\/a> is another key player inside 50 for the Bull Sharks, while Sally Young<\/strong> is one to watch from the home side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n
