AFTER his side\u2019s at times cruisy win over Port Adelaide yesterday, Geelong coach Dan Lowther<\/em><\/strong> was certainly pleased with what he had seen from his troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had maybe six or seven goal scorers which was a nice spread,” Lowther said. “We shouldn\u2019t be relying on just one player and it\u2019s nice that Chloe<\/a> throughout the four quarters threatened in front of goal, but to have Rach Kearns<\/a> go down and kick a goal as well, some of our mids get through\u2026 it was good off last week\u2019s disappointing second half. We obviously have a few areas to fix up in our after half time performance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He did have some ideas about how Geelong could put together that four quarter consistency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI had a chat to the group after the game around continuing to mature as a group that\u2019s learning the game and the scenarios that the game gives you,” Lowther said. “In game awareness and decision making are really important, so again you look at most teams, they\u2019re quite eclectic with their personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We\u2019ll learn a lot from that around decision making in real time, and that\u2019s all fine to go back to the club and look at vision and dissect it and go \u2018I told you that that would have been a better decision\u2019 but it\u2019s too late now, we can\u2019t do that. So can we do that in real time is the next step.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geelong had a good spread of goal kickers yesterday, which pleased Lowther.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was a good first half. We\u2019ve been really strong with our first quarters, so I suppose the aim was to come over here and set the tone from the start,” Lowther. said. “I was pleased with our first quarter, I suppose the next step for us would be consistency over the four quarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Good first half, after half time it wasn\u2019t how we would have liked to play. To have a good mix of contested, have a really good mix of uncontested as well. It helped us control the game a bit so that was pleasing\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cats are on a tough run at the moment with its draw, and Lowther noted how that does not ease up next week, as the Cats have a short break to contend with too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGot the Dees on Thursday, so another great test, they had a really strong win the other night against the Hawks,” Lowther. said. “We\u2019ve had Kangaroos one week, we\u2019re pushed today against a really emerging team in Port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“An important game next week, we\u2019ve never played Melbourne before so this will be a first for us, but they\u2019re in ripping form and we\u2019re going along ok so it\u2019ll be a really good test for our girls to again play our way for as long as we can.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
