BACK for another year, Rookie Me Central’s 24 to Watch in 2024 returns and this time around, the focus is on underage players, being those who are yet to have an AFLW Draft chance. For the list of 2024, it will range between players who are predominantly 2006 (top-age) and 2007-born talents likely to take the SANFL Women’s by storm or set themselves up for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AFLW draft prospect Jemma Charity<\/a> is the first one in the list that experiences a change of scenery coming into her top-age year. In a similar vein to Elaine Grigg 12 months earlier, Charity has transferred SANFL Women’s clubs from Woodville-West Torrens to North Adelaide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n DOB:<\/strong> 06\/06\/2006 <\/p>\n\n\n\n Charity will join her sister Chloe<\/a> at Prospect Oval after making the move over the off-season. Having played on all three lines across the last three seasons, the younger Charity is looking to push herself up into midfield contention with the Roosters under new North Adelaide coach Jason Fairall<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last season, Charity averaged 10.2 disposals, 3.4 marks and 2.3 tackles, booting 10 goals in as many games as a leading forward who could roll into the midfield. It came off the back of a promising debut season where she played as much in midfield as she did in attack from nine games, where she averaged 13.1 disposals, 3.4 marks and 2.6 tackles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then after missing out on a spot at the 2022 AFLW Under 18 Championships, Charity went on to dominate at Under 16s level, winning the MVP for the carnival. In 2023, she got that spot she was calling out for in the Croweaters’ side, playing in defence this time. Though it was a role change for the bottom-ager, she took to it with ease, not only being one of the more consistent defenders, but winning All-Australian honours in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the ‘next best’ outside the AFLW Academy squad, Charity has an accurate kick and incredibly strong hands overhead.
