BACK for another year, Rookie Me Central’s 24 to Watch in 2024 returns and this time around, the focus is on underage players, being those who are yet to have an AFLW Draft chance. For the list of 2024, it will range between players who are predominantly 2006 (top-age) and 2007-born talents likely to take the SANFL Women’s by storm or set themselves up for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The third consecutive Central District player in this list and fourth inside the top 10, Georgia McKee<\/a> did not even play a game last year. The talented bottom-ager tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) over the off-season, and was unable to get on the park after a dazzling debut season for the Bulldogs at SANFL Women’s level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n DOB:<\/strong> 24\/04\/2006 <\/p>\n\n\n\n When it comes to natural talent, few have it to the extent of McKee. When inside 50, the small forward is simply one of – if not the most – damaging players on the ground. She won a game off her own boot against West Adelaide in 2022, kicking four second half goals from 17 disposals and laying seven tackles to help Central District come from behind and run over the top of the Bloods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n McKee would go on to kick a goal in every other game, and after a 27-disposal, seven-mark and eight-inside 50 performance through the midfield and half-forward against Norwood earlier, the talented junior showed she had plenty of strings to her bow. While she would not be able to add to her accomplishments in 2023 – instead watching her teammates celebrate the flag – she would remain hungry heading into 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Crows supporter is simply an elite talent and could very easily be one of the best in the country. She might not have the height of some others, but her hands for a small are strong, she has the smarts to know where to go, and uses the ball well once she has it. McKee is one of those players that people will pay to watch because of the pure excitement she can bring to a match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2024, McKee has the potential to take her game even further, and with continuity, could add to her 2023 performance where she kicked 11 goals in nine games, averaged 13.7 disposals at 75 per cent efficiency, and had 2.8 marks, 3.6 tackles and 3.0 inside 50s.
