The pair were often sighted deep inside Centrals’ forward 50, battling one-on-one as long entries came their way.

In the early exchanges, Evans engaged her opponent and was outmuscled in physical tussles, but looked much more dangerous on the move or when the ball hit the deck. She found greater success when taking front position and leading Falkenberg to the ball.

Needing only an inch to take a mile, Evans swooped on a fumble to hand Julia Teakle the game’s first goal before getting on the board herself. She judged a two-grab mark nicely and converted the set shot with usual aplomb to cap off a solid quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

After losing out in a few one-on-one contests but still creating scoreboard pressure in the first quarter, Evans adjusted nicely for more success in term two. She got busier on the lead, albeit with poor service, and tackled hard after splitting aerial contests.

The teen sensation snared her second goal with a relatively casual, but undeniably classy bit of play. She was first to the loose ball inside 50, picked it up uncontested and wheeled around for a snap which skipped away from the Eagles defender and through for six points.

THIRD QUARTER

Continuing her streak of splitting the big sticks in each quarter, Evans kicked her third goal in the same term. Though, overall there were less opportunities for her to latch onto deep entries as she continued to ply her trade one-out inside attacking 50.

Evans’ goal came from a clever bit of forward craft, where she lost her opponent on a short lead and marked uncontested on a tight angle. From the wrong side for a right-footer, she slotted the goal beautifully to make good on her one chance for the term.

FOURTH QUARTER

Having already nabbed all three of her goals for the match, Evans was relatively quiet in term four and got more involved up the ground. Katelyn Rosenzweig proved Centrals’ focal point with two majors, though the youngster did well to move and find space when opportunities presented.

CLOSING THOUGHTS…

Her numbers from the weekend may not exactly jump off the page, but Evans converted at a punishing rate and was consistently among Central Districts’ most potent forwards. She made good on her chances and is a terrific exponent of the set shot, able to score from anywhere inside 50.

Playing in a premiership side, she sticks to a specific role well but could also benefit from being exposed to other positions. She is arguably most dangerous close to goal and is used that way by the Bulldogs, though arguably has the smarts, skill and tenacity to be successful as an outside midfielder or defender.

Mentions

Jasmine Evans

GOALSNEAKS are consistently among footy fan favourites and Jasmine Evans is exactly that for reigning SANFL Women’s premier, Central District.
