IT was a good week to be an away side in the VFL Women\u2019s, with the majority of the visiting teams getting the job done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casey has picked up its third win of 2024 after a 16 point win over the Southern Saints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both sides had a slow start to proceedings, but the Dees kicked away in the second and third terms to establish a buffer that held firm even as the Saints fought back in the last term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Niamh O’Neill<\/a> kicked three majors for the Dees, while Shree Fairchild<\/a> was a tackling machine through defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile Maddison Torpey<\/a> was a workhorse through midfield for the Saints, while Gabriella De Angelis<\/a> also had a big game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Geelong also picked up its third win of 2024 after accounting for North Melbourne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Cats always had a handy buffer, but a three goal to one third term is what really blew the game open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chantal Mason<\/a> kicked three goals for the Cats in the win, while debutant Kiara Woods<\/a> certainly had a game to remember, snapping two majors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile for the home side Audrey Rhodes<\/a> and Alana Barba<\/a> impressed through midfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Essendon\u2019s run of good recent form continued, this time taking care of Collingwood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Bombers certainly did not pack the same inaccurate kicking shoes as previous weeks, winning this match despite having less scoring shots than the Pies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sophie Molan<\/a>, Emily Gough<\/a> and Tia Davidge<\/a> all kicked a pair of majors each for the victorious Bombers, while Alana Porter<\/a> and Kaitlyn Day<\/a> did the same for the Pies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Port Melbourne has now lost three matches on the trot, this time going down to the Giants by just over three goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Teagan Germech<\/a> dominated the hit outs for the Giants, while Madison Brazendale<\/a> saw plenty of the ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile for the Borough Ava Seton<\/a> and Eloise Ashley-Cooper<\/a> again had impressive games through midfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Bulldogs have levelled their season ledger after defeating the Blues by three goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It was a case of too little too late for the Blues, who did not score a goal until the final quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Renee Saulitis<\/a> and Keeley Hardingham<\/a> kicked two goals each for the Bulldogs, with the latter also having a solid day in the ruck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the other side of the coin, Darcy Vescio<\/a> also kicked two goals for the Blues, while Keeley Sherar<\/a> had a strong game through midfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The battle of the independents saw Williamstown emerge victorious again, this time by just over six goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Falcons actually led at quarter time, but essentially stopped scoring from there as the Seagulls soared away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sharnie Whiting<\/a> (three goals) and Eliza Straford<\/a> (two goals) were the ones to get the Seagulls going on the scoring front, while Monique DeMatteo<\/a> (two goals) was the pick of the bunch on the scoring front for Darebin, and Angelica Gogos<\/a> again had an influential game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The final match of the round saw Box Hill\u2019s undefeated run come to an end at the hands of the Swans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Scoring opportunities were few and far between for the Hawks, as the Swans continued to kick away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bella Smith<\/a> led the way on the scoring front for the Swans with four majors, while Chloe Molloy<\/a> again dominated through the middle and into attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hawks were meanwhile led by their youth, with Hayley McLaughlin<\/a> and Charlotte Baskaran<\/a> seeing the most of the ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\nNorth Melbourne (5.5.35) lost to Geelong (8.11.59)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
