THE VFLW certainly had its fair share of surprises over the weekend, with not all results going the way many would have expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Port Melbourne snapped its losing run with an eight point win over a valiant Darebin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Falcons pushed the reigning champs hard for most of the match, but the Borough ultimately showed their class and prevailed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emily Harley<\/a> was the pick of the goal scorers for the Borough, while Ava Seton<\/a> was a tackle machine and Belinda Woolcock<\/a> also had a great game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile for the Falcons Monique DeMatteo<\/a> was their only goal scoring, but their defence was the true hero of the day, with the likes of Riley Christgoergl<\/a> and Katelyn Lee<\/a> particularly starring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Sydney did not quite make it a clean sweep of its VFLW series, narrowly losing to Collingwood in its final match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Swans lead by two and a half goals at the final change, but the Pies fought back hard in the final term to snatch the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sarah Sansonetti<\/a> kicked two majors for the Pies, while Carly Remmos<\/a> also had an influential game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile for the Swans Sofia Hurley<\/a> and Tanya Kennedy<\/a> were both tackling machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Carlton reversed the result from its Round 1 match against Geelong, this time defeating the Cats by three points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The lead and momentum changed a number of times during the game, but ultimately the Blues held firm through a Geelong fight back to take the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eliza Wood<\/a> led the goal kicking for the Blues with two majors, while Simone Mooney<\/a> had a very productive game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile Hannah Burchell<\/a> kicked two majors for Geelong while Breanna Pratt<\/a> was industrious for the visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n First up on Sunday, North Melbourne held on for a narrow win over the Saints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a pretty free flowing game, a late behind ultimately gave the Kangaroos the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maddie Di Cosmo<\/a> again had a very good game in the midfield for the Kangaroos, while Nicole Hales<\/a> was a real general in defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile for the Saints Chloe Hunt<\/a> again led from the front in attack, while Abbey Tregellis<\/a> was a tackle machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Williamstown has been involved in its second draw for the season, this time drawing with Casey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Seagulls lead by seven points at the final change, before the Dees kicked two goals to their one and levelled up proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eliza Straford<\/a> and Georgia Campbell<\/a> led their respective sides\u2019 goal scoring with two goals each, while Lori Stepnell<\/a> and Meg Macdonald<\/a> saw plenty of the ball each for their respective sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Unlike their cross town rivals, the Giants did in fact clean sweep their VFLW series after they comfortably took care of the Bombers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Bombers went scoreless in the first half, but things could have been even worse for them if the Giants had kicked straight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Olivia Edwards<\/a> was the only multiple goal kicker on the ground with two to her name, while Mikayla Pauga<\/a> also impressed for the Giants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile Scarlett Orritt<\/a> was the only goal scorer for the Bombers, while skipper El Chaston<\/a> saw plenty of the ball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Box Hill has lost its second match in a row, this time going down to the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Bulldogs kicked three goals to one in the first term, and were able to maintain that kind of buffer for much of the rest of the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ellie Blackburn<\/a> starred on the scoring front for the Bulldogs with four goals to her name, while Vaomua Laloifi<\/a> saw plenty of the ball on her return to the Bulldogs colours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile for the Bulldogs Tilly Lucas-Rodd<\/a> led from the front in the midfield, while Rosie Dillon<\/a> also impressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\nSydney (5.5.35) lost to Collingwood (5.7.37)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
