Subiaco started the season well, winning two of its first four games, but has ultimately dropped its past four matches. While competitive in most contests, the bottom line is the Lions have a 2-6 record and both wins came against the bottom two sides. They have a chance to change that here against Swan Districts, though the Black Ducks are on a high coming off an incredible win over Claremont.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subiaco has loaded up on talent for the match, gaining AFLW-experienced duo in Krstel Petrevski<\/a> and Aimee Schmidt<\/a>, as well as ruck Tess Lyons<\/a> and smart forward-midfielder Eva Popovsky<\/a>. Among the four outs are Hanna Dethlefsen<\/a> and Taylisha Brown<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swan Districts will also add some firepower to its front half by including Hope Ugle-Hayward<\/a> and Brianna Hyde<\/a>, with Emma Nanut<\/a> and Ava Stewart<\/a> making way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AFLW DRAFT TALENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
All eyes will be on Olivia Wolmarans<\/a> up forward for the Lions to see what she can do, while rotating through the ruck. Also inside 50, Popovsky is a clever and tough goalkicking option, while the home side will need to be wary of young midfield duo, Carys D’Addario<\/a> and Lily Paterson<\/a>. Winger Indiana West<\/a> and forward Sienna Gerardi<\/a> are others to keep an eye on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PREDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
The match looms as a huge one, and if Swan Districts play like last week, the Black Ducks will be very hard to beat. In saying that, the Subiaco team on paper looks as strong as it has all season, and the match looms as a cracking contest.<\/p>\n

Claremont enters the game coming off a home and away loss for the first time since 2022, going down to Swan Districts last week having previously been unbeaten this season. South Fremantle also suffered a shock defeat, losing to East Perth in a forgettable match, so both teams will be ultra-hungry to bounce back in this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claremont regain crucial defender Claire Ortlepp<\/a> among five inclusions, but that bonus comes with the loss of three star midfielders and a couple of rising talents. Claudia Wright<\/a>, Kate Orme<\/a> and Taylah Orzel<\/a> all come out of the side, while Georgia Webb<\/a> and Ella Gilbey<\/a> also miss. Joining Ortlepp in the side are the likes of May Nicholson<\/a>, Abby Maynard<\/a> and Laura Cinnani<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Fremantle lose marking forward Poppy Stockwell<\/a> who will be a crucial out, but do regain talented AFLW Draft prospect Molly O’Hehir<\/a> as well as experienced duo Pia Durk<\/a> and Liusaidh Gilchrist<\/a> and young gun Alira Fotu<\/a>. The other outs are Tanika Bradley<\/a>, Pippa Sideris<\/a> and Kate Newson<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AFLW DRAFT TALENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Without Wright, Claremont will look to Juliet Kelly<\/a> as one of its smoothest ball users, with the defender enjoying a great season rolling through the midfield. Eva O’Donnell<\/a> is a talented wing\/forward who can do plenty of damage. O’Hehir is the clear star for the Bulldogs, though Noa McNaughton<\/a>, Zoe Keley<\/a> and Fotu are other State Academy members who can hit the scoreboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PREDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Claremont has lost a lot of depth through the midfield, but do have the depth to cover around the ground. It is hard to imagine the Tigers will lose two in a row after such a long winning streak, but the Bulldogs have got stronger on paper so this could be a ripping contest.<\/p>\n
