OAKLEIGH Chargers and Gold Coast Suns Academy both had big wins on the weekend and were rewarded with an equal league-high four representatives in our Coates Talent League Girls Team of the Week for Round 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the 14 teams in action, 12 featured in the side, with eight have multiple players in the 24-strong squad. This week’s captain is of course our Player of the Week, Maggie Mahony<\/a> after 37 disposals and four goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She was one of four Chargers alongside Chloe Bown<\/a> and Bailee Martin<\/a> who combined for six goals, as well as hard-running midfielder Sarah Poustie<\/a> who was named out on the wing in this team. Also up forward is a couple of Suns Academy members who kicked seven goals between them in Alannah Welsh<\/a> and Dekota Baron<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ruck Havana Harris<\/a> slots into that starting role, while Mia Salisbury<\/a> makes it onto the bench. Alongside her on the interchange are sole representatives Zoe Hargreaves<\/a> and Lou Painter<\/a> who were squeezed out of the midfield this week due to the strength on-ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n First time Team of the Week representative Nalu Brothwell<\/a> is also on the interchange, in the side with Dandenong Stingrays teammate Jemma Reynolds<\/a>. Reynolds flanks Gippsland Power star Ash Centra<\/a> who completes the front six after another 34-disposal and two-goal game, with fellow Power talent Ella Stoddart<\/a> named on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The last interchange player is Sandringham Dragons’ winger Scout Howden<\/a>, who along with Top 10 talent Sophie McKay<\/a> are their side’s Round 6 representatives. On the other wing to Poustie and next to McKay is Lions Academy’s Isabella McDonough<\/a> who kicked three goals in her side’s win over Calder Cannons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n McDonough’s teammate Laura Roy<\/a> was named in defence, as was the dominant ball-winner on teh day in Chloe Baker-West<\/a>, who accumulated 42 disposals in the loss, a round-high. In the back pocket is Western Jets defender Lou-Lou Field<\/a>, with both her and midfielder Sierra Grieves<\/a> making the side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rounding out the squad are a couple of Rebels in Millie Lang<\/a> and Isabella Davies<\/a> who have both been named at half-back, while the sole Tasmanian representative in Mackenzie Williams<\/a> slots in at full-back.
