Claremont bounced back from its first loss of the season with a gritty one-point win over South Fremantle, and now face a West Perth side that fell short of East Fremantle, but has beaten all the sides below it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claremont has welcome back in a stack of stars for the crunch match, boosting its midfield with Emily Bonser<\/a>, Claudia Wright<\/a> and Kate Orme<\/a>. The Tigers have brought in extra experience up forward in Brooke Whyte<\/a> at the expense of Bec Anderson<\/a>, while youngster Ella Gilbey<\/a> also comes in. They lose Claire Ortlepp<\/a> who was also missing in their only loss, while Charlotte Tompkin<\/a>, Tazma Hutson<\/a> and Amy Evans<\/a> are the other outs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
West Perth has made the four changes, welcoming back Elissa Price<\/a>, Teal Bennett<\/a>, Ritiha Dunn<\/a> and Sophie Fisher<\/a>. The likes of Jeevna Heer<\/a> and Kayla Van Den Heever<\/a> are among four outs for the Falcons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AFLW DRAFT TALENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Claremont top-ager Wright will add some serious skill and smarts on-ball and around the ground when rotating. She is one to watch for this year, while Juliet Kelly<\/a> is another classy operator for the Tigers. Winger turned inside midfielder Megan Norbury<\/a> starred last week and has been named on-ball again, while bottom-age forward\/midfielder Mia Russo<\/a> is a dangerous talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PREDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Claremont has the experience and depth across the field, though no Ortlepp is worry in terms of defensive organisation as was the case against Swan Districts a few weeks back. In saying that, the strength of the midfield should get on top, and if they can win enough clearances, the Tigers should be too strong.<\/p>\n

Subiaco kept its finals hopes alive with a terrific win over Swan Districts last week to only be four points outside the top four and right back in the hunt. The Lions thrashed the Royals in Round 1 of this season, but will be without the player who kicked half a dozen goals in that game, so will look for other scoring options. East Perth lost to the previously winless Peel Thunder after showing strong form in recent weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subiaco has lost some serious experience and scoring power with the outs of Olivia Wolmarans<\/a> (who kicked six majors in Round 1) and Aimee Schmidt<\/a>, while defender Beatrice Devlyn<\/a> and winger Hayley Corlett<\/a> are also out of the team. East Perth has made the two changes and lost a couple of in-form players in Layla Firns<\/a> and Sabella Banks<\/a>, with Abbey Barber<\/a> and Neve McAlister<\/a> coming into the team, the latter for her League debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AFLW DRAFT TALENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subiaco does not have a State Academy member in the side at present, but Eva Popovsky<\/a> is a mature-age name to remember after an impressive outing for the WAFLW side in the State game. East Perth’s Lucy Greenwood<\/a> is a classy forward to watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PREDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subiaco should be too strong for East Perth, but the loss of some key players will hurt the Lions, especially with the Royals far more competitive this season and working well as a unit. It is a must win for the Lions who are within reach of a finals spot.<\/p>\n

Both these sides are coming of heartbreaking losses after the Bulldogs fell a point short of Claremont last week in a frantic comeback. They still sit in fourth thanks to Swan Districts also losing, going down to Subiaco by 11 points making the run home very tight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swan Districts has only made the two changes with goalkicking machine Courtney Zappara<\/a> out of the side along with Adi Griffith<\/a>, while Jemma Sly<\/a> and Ava Stewart<\/a> come in. The Bulldogs have made a stack of changes, losing experienced players such as skipper Lauren Vecchio<\/a> and onballer Liusaidh Gilchrist<\/a>, as well as key forward Shannyn Pomersbach<\/a>. They do regain Poppy Stockwell<\/a>, with State Academy member Jasmine Bazeley<\/a> also among the five inclusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Midfielders Carys D’Addario<\/a> and Lily Paterson<\/a> have been sensational this season, with small forward Sienna Gerardi<\/a> impressing in her first two WAFLW games. Molly O’Hehir<\/a> is a match-winner for the Bulldogs, while Bazeley joins Noa McNaughton<\/a> as some evasive young guns, and Alira Fotu<\/a> showed promising signs up forward last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PREDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
The outs are concerning for South Fremantle and this is a danger game for the Bulldogs considering they will drop outside the four, and likely to sixth if they lose. Swan Districts is without Zappara but otherwise quite strong and capable of causing an upset.<\/p>\n

Peel Thunder finally got the monkey off the back last week with a well deserved win over East Perth. Though they will not be threatening too many this season, it will give them confidence for the future. East Fremantle ticked off another box against West Perth for the second time this season, and are closing in on another top two finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peel Thunder has not changed too much from a lineup that worked last week with the sole move being Cierra O’Donnell<\/a> coming in for Charlize Thompson<\/a>. East Fremantle has been resting players throughout the season, and this time three key talls in Laura Catherine<\/a>, Ashlee Atkins<\/a> and Sarah Wielstra<\/a> all make way for a trio of debutants in Alicia Blizard<\/a>, <\/strong>Madison Evans<\/a> and Reini Tutuki<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AFLW DRAFT TALENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Blizard will be one to watch for the Sharks, with prime mover Zippy Fish<\/a> set to light up Mandurah tomorrow. Defenders Taya Chambers<\/a> and Natasha Entwistle<\/a> will make life difficult for the Thunder forwards, while Tiani Teakle<\/a> – who started in defence last week – will likely return forward given the outs. Peel Thunder’s Evie Cowcher<\/a> will have a big job in defence, while Holly Britton<\/a> starred off a wing in the win, and Dakota Sexton<\/a> is a tenacious midfielder\/defender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PREDICTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was great for the Thunder to get a breakthrough win, but this challenge is on another level. East Fremantle has too many experienced players across the board, and for the home side it will be about seeing hoe long it can be competitive with a genuine premiership contender.<\/p>\n
