FROM a groundbreaking win to a shellacking, both West Perth and East Fremantle might have taken home the four points in different ways, but both ended Round 12 of the WAFLW with five Team of the Week representatives. The two other winning sides – Subiaco and Swan Districts – as well as the narrow-losing Claremont had three, while South Fremantle and Peel Thunder (two apiece) and East Perth (one) rounded out the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
East Fremantle young gun Zippy Fish<\/a> captains the hypothetical Round 12 Team of the Week after yet another best on ground display. She had 29 disposals, six marks, 12 inside 50s and two goals in the Sharks’ whopping 105-point win over Peel Thunder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fish is joined in the side by four teammates in defender Leanne Gubbins<\/a>, ruck Emmelie Fiedler<\/a>, and a couple of tall forwards. Both Tiani Teakle<\/a> (four goals) and Alicia Blizard<\/a> (three) made the side in a high-powered forwardline. Perhaps the most unlucky was Samara Pluschke<\/a> who was only just squeezed out after an impressive 20 disposals and two goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Key forward Emily McGuire<\/a> was crucial in steering the Black Ducks to victory over South Fremantle, with the Swan Districts star booting four goals and earned her place at full-forward. Up the other end, Zoe Huggett<\/a> also kicked four to keep the Bulldogs in the contest and sits beside her in the forward pocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Swan Districts other representatives were midfielder Naomi Baker<\/a> and winger Kayley King<\/a> who both had outstanding games, while South Fremantle’s Jasmine Bazeley<\/a> caught the eye with her explosive speed and defensive pressure. Top-age talent Noa McNaughton<\/a> was named as an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n West Perth had an enjoyable win over Claremont to announce itself as a contender. Imahra Cameron<\/a> was strong in front of goal, while the like of Mia Russo<\/a> and Brooke Hongell<\/a> were important in the front half of the ground. Just as important was Emily Bennett<\/a> who can rotate between defence and midfield, while Liliana Grassenis<\/a> had some crucial one-on-ones and earned her place in the back pocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Falcons’ opponents Claremont had three players in the side with Jacinta Valentini<\/a> starting on-ball, Rebecca Tuckey<\/a> named in defence, and ruck Jessica Ritchie<\/a> on the bench. That was largely due to the performance of Tess Lyons<\/a> who had an enormous game in ruck against East Perth and started in the role for this hypothetical team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of the other Lions in the team, Molly Warburton<\/a> was named at half-back, and three-goal hero Kate Pocsidio<\/a> made it onto the bench.
