ALL four winning WAFL Women’s sides for Round 14 recorded four players in our Team of the Week in what was an impressive weekend of action. While Claremont, East Fremantle, South Fremantle and West Perth all had four representatives, Swan Districts and Peel Thunder contributed three, and Subiaco two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though the winners dominated this week’s WAFL Women’s Team of the Week, it was Swan Districts’ onballer Lily Paterson<\/a> who earned the captaincy of this hypothetical team, racking up 33 disposals, six marks, nine tackles and two inside 50s. She was named in the side with teammates fellow teenage midfielder Carys D’Addario<\/a>, and rebounding defender Isabella Edgley<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The vice-captain of the Round 14 team is bottom-age star Mia Russo<\/a> who was one of four Falcons in this week’s side. She kicked three goals from 23 touches, four marks and 11 inside 50s, and joined both Bianca Webb<\/a> and Imahra Cameron<\/a> inside 50, while wing Taylor Ferguson<\/a> also made the side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n South Fremantle kept its finals hopes alive with a crucial win over Subiaco, and was led by skipper Lauren Vecchio<\/a> who made the side once again in defence. Up forward, bottom-age tall Alira Fotu<\/a> looked impressive with a pair of goals, while Liusaidh Gilchrist<\/a> and Alyssa Smogavec<\/a> fill out a midfield-heavy bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n East Fremantle’s commanding victory over Swan Districts resulted in two top-age talents making the squad with Zippy Fish<\/a> cheekily named at half-back alongside Taya Chambers<\/a>. Sarah Wielstra<\/a> kicked four behinds but provided a presence inside 50, while Chloe Wrigley<\/a> worked hard defensively through midfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Claremont wing Kate Orme<\/a> was best on ground in the Tigers’ victory over Peel Thunder and made it two from two in terms of specialist wings in this week’s side. Her teammates Jacinta Valentini<\/a>, Eva Campo<\/a> and Sarah Viney<\/a> rounded out another strong representation from the finals-bound Tigers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite Peel Thunder losing, the Mandurah-based side still had the three representatives, and it was the usual suspects once again. Defenders Evie Cowcher<\/a> and skipper Ebony Dowson<\/a> were named side-by-side on the last line, while Ebony Bilcich<\/a> made it onto the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Completing the side is a couple of Lions who start on-ball following Subiaco’s loss to South Fremantle. Ruck\/forward Olivia Wolmarans<\/a> takes her place starting in the former, while Krstel Petrevski<\/a> was influential through midfield.
