WEST Adelaide now remains in control of its own SANFL Women’s finals destiny when it takes on Norwood next week after defeating Woodville-West Torrens by 10 points on the weekend. The Bloods won the Round 13 clash 5.11 (41) to 5.1 (31).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inaccuracy definitely kept the Eagles in the game, though top-ager Klaudia O’Neill<\/a> proved a threat up forward slotting two goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Three consecutive goals to start the third term got the ball rolling for the Eagles and they hit the front by five points and looked to have all the momentum. However a late major to Sarah Campbell<\/a> – who was playing her first SANFLW game since 2022 – put the home side back in front at the last chance. She kicked her third goal in the last quarter to give her side breathing space and the eventual win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Campbell’s three goals was the key in the win, though the experience of Iilish Ross<\/a> (20 disposals, 12 clearances) and Zoe Venning<\/a> (24 disposals, five clearances) around the ball was key. Top-agers Asha Dufour<\/a> and Emma Kilpatrick<\/a> found plenty of the ball, while the likes of Lucy Waye<\/a> and Emily Mableson<\/a> also caught the eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the Eagles, Leah Cutting<\/a> (16 disposals, nine tackles, 34 hitouts, six clearances and six inside 50s) took control it the ruck, as skipper Annie Falkenberg<\/a> (17 disposals, 11 rebound 50s) and Christina Leuzzi<\/a> (14 disposals, four marks and three rebound 50s) were strong in defence. Though mathematically the Panthers are percentage clear of their final round opponent in Central District, that result would need to be over 200 points in favour of the Dogs to nudge South from its position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Against Glenelg, the Panthers took full advantage of a Bays side missing a host of top-end talents, shaking off some early resistance – and just a two-goal half-time lead – to piled on seven goals to one in the second half and storm away with a 64-point win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Panthers forwards feasted with Lucy Northcott<\/a> and Doreena Hansen<\/a> both kicking three goals, while Melissa Anderson<\/a> and Shae Archbold<\/a> each kicked two. The Bulldogs had a fight on their hands against a reinvigorated North Adelaide outfit, but kicked five goals to one after quarter time to come away with the 7.9 (51) to 3.7 (25) victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Central District took a whopping 31 more marks and controlled the play, also notching up 14 more hitouts (43-29), nine more clearances (29-20) and 12 more inside 50s (31-19) in the win. The Roosters were more than competitive for most of the game, but the middle two quarters – of 5.3 to 0.3 – was the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Forward Katelyn Rosenzweig<\/a> was unstoppable in front of goal except for perhaps her inaccuracy, kicking 2.6 from 19 disposals and 10 marks – two contested – in a commanding effort.
