FREMANTLE pulled off one of the greatest escapes in AFL Women\u2019s history, coming from 18 points behind at three quarter time to snatch a one-goal win over Melbourne yesterday in the dying seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fremantle coach Lisa Webb<\/em><\/strong> was very relieved post-match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeah, gosh, that was hectic\u201d Webb said. \u201cTo be honest, it’s just the girls seeing that belief. I knew they could do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe’ve been saying it for a while, but to be able to come back, come from behind against a really good team, we obviously had some challenges thrown at us, so it’s more just giving the girls that belief and understanding that when we get to work, we can play really good brand of footy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the fightback, things went far from to plan in the first half for Fremantle, which did frustrate Webb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was tough, but once again we stayed in it. We controlled the things that we could do,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cObviously we had a couple of players on their team that they were kind of getting away from us, and we changed a few things, especially into the breeze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCredit to the girls. I mean, everything we threw at them, they kind of changed and worked to the plan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One player that Webb again praised was Gabby O’Sullivan<\/a>, who was prolific through midfield and was described as \u201cphenomenal”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Just her pressure, I thought she got us in the contest, especially when we needed someone to really lift. Her pressure around was amazing,” Webb said. “She’s got that great step in which she’s keen to show at training and just pleased for that reward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe’s a delightful person. She got life membership this week so she’s had a pretty good week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a busy couple of weeks coming up for Fremantle, with a multi game road trip to Melbourne next up for the Dockers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt’s one of those things,\u201d Webb said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want the girls to sit in and enjoy these moments, and then we’re just going to get to work again. “Obviously there’s a couple of girls that have had injuries. We’re going to have to look at that and then get to work this week and we’ve got a six day break and then, obviously, St Kilda and Geelong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“you don’t want to dwell on things too much with the tight turnaround but it’s an exciting time for us. We get away. “We’ve shown what we can do and especially when we’re under pressure and put on a good performance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
