THE Brisbane Lions continued their winning ways, dominating from start to finish, defeating the West Coast Eagles by 45 points at Mineral Resources Park on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Lions coach Craig Starcevich<\/em><\/strong>, \u201cthe fact that we got off to a good start was most pleasing. The danger with this one was at the back of the little period that we\u2019ve gone through, three game in nine days was going to be was where was the energy going to come from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe fact that we started strongly I thought was really good. That can carry through the back end of the game, even when you\u2019re not feeling flash. That start was terrific.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n With the condensed fixture in full swing, Starcevich talked about how he managed his side\u2019s fatigue rotating players coming into the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cJust to keep enough spark inside the contest to get us out of stoppage and move the ball through the middle of the ground, there was a bit of flipping around,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cJade Ellenger<\/a> played three to four different spots today, Sophie Conway<\/a> the same, Courtney Hodder<\/a> a little bit the same, Charlotte Mullins<\/a>, Lily Postlethwaite<\/a>, they all played multiple roles today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll things said and done, it was not too bad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Starcevich praised the performance Taylor Smith<\/a> played and the importance of her playing a key role this season with her recent form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShe\u2019s had a really good season so far. In particular, the last three or four games. Her hands have been pretty good, she\u2019s regularly hitting the scoreboard. Dakota<\/a> had the midweek game off as she was sick and wasn\u2019t super today in terms of health, but at least she (Sophie) got out there and got her hands on it a little bit. The two of them up and going and really firing, we\u2019re hope there going to be a handful for opposition clubs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
