WITH three Hawks out for the second half of Sunday afternoon\u2019s contest against the Dockers, Daniel Webster<\/strong><\/em>\u2019s team was up against it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hawthorn ran out nine-point winners over Fremantle, handing the Hawks their second loss for the season. Having been dealt both losses at home, Dockers head coach Lisa Webb<\/strong><\/em> describes how her side endeavours to bounce back against Carlton this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe just need to get our style of footy back,\u201d Webb said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need to continue to build whether we win, lose or draw, we want to make sure we\u2019re reviewing, and we\u2019ve got that appetite to win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCredit to the girls, I guarantee they\u2019ll be turning up Monday, Tuesday ready to learn from the things today that caused us to lose, and they\u2019ll be fighting for Carlton.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two players that have epitomised the Dockers and the style of football that they are attempting to play are running defender pair Emma O’Driscoll<\/a> and Ash Brazill<\/a>. Considering how much Hawthorn can score against their opposition, the duo were lauded by their coach for their efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brazill had 10 intercept possessions and eight tackles, while O\u2019Driscoll had 19 touches and 11 intercept possessions of her own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re brilliant, I thought once again they were really good, \u2018Braz\u2019 on the left [foot] as well, O\u2019Driscoll\u2019s forward pressure has been super important for us, they\u2019re two really reliable players but we\u2019ve just got to continue to build those around them as well,” Webb said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other side of the coin it was Webster\u2019s Hawks that got the win under duress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Mackenzie Eardley<\/a> out with a neck injury after a collision with Mim Strom<\/a> in a marking contest, as well as ankle injuries to Laura Stone<\/a> and Kristy Stratton<\/a>, there were some tired legs after the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Webster provided an update on those players post-match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTwo rolled ankles, we\u2019ll get them looked at during the week,\u201d he said..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMack\u2019s got a sore neck so it was that precautionary with the nature of the injury but I think she was feeling reasonably well once taken off the ground so we will just get it scanned and looked at during the week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about how he felt about just being able to grind out a win given the circumstances, Webster was visibly proud of his side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[We\u2019ve had a] four day break, [you] fly across the country, three go down in the first quarter and to gut it out and run it out, [I\u2019m] incredibly proud of the players and the staff and everyone in the program to be able to fight through it and get a result off the back of it,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s an incredibly important win for us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite stepping down from the captaincy, Tilly Lucas-Rodd<\/a> continues to be a pillar of stability, leadership and knowledge for the young Hawks side. Webster spoke about their importance to the team and how they are able to continue to contribute every week on field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Till\u2019\u2019s been great, I spoke last week on their impact and their leadership they provide behind the ball,\u201d Webster explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe know \u2018Till\u2019 is a great user [and] works incredibly hard, so they just compliment the rest of the backline and as a collective I thought our backline was insane today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI thought they were really good, really strong, very organised behind the ball again off very limited rotations so it was a really good effort from the entire group down there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
