PORT Adelaide has won its third match in a row this AFL Women\u2019s season after defeating Collingwood last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt certainly felt like a gritty win, if that’s probably the best way I can describe it at this point,\u201d Power coach Lauren Arnell<\/em><\/strong> said post match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cReally pleased with our midfield to stick it out and reset at halftime, when it probably felt like Collingwood had the ascendancy going into halftime. I think they’re up on the scoreboard and just for our mids to grind that out when it was an overly contested game of footy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Power has now won three matches in a row for the first time, and Arnell was really happy with the process her team is showing at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI think the most pleasing thing about three wins in a row for us is obviously it is the first time we’ve done it, but the process for our group and the way we’re going about it is really pleasing,\u201d Arnell said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd I think tonight, speaking to the coaches post game as well, just the way we went about it, there’s been games that like, even probably the Freo game, round three, that we lost here, and we’ve seen Freo continue to get better and better throughout the remainder of the season so far. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “But we did feel like we gave ourselves opportunities to win that game, we didn’t take them, and those gritty styles of game, we probably haven’t won in the past, and so to get the win tonight and make that three in a row is again really pleasing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the third quarter the Power kicked three goals to none and really maximised the wind advantage they had that quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt’s interesting,\u201d Arnell said upon reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cObviously the game played out quite a congested style of football, which we would like to open the game up more than that. But yeah, I think we’ve certainly played in windier conditions here at Alberton.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
