CARLTON has made an impressive come from behind victory against Fremantle, stealing a four point win in the final stages of the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Blues coach Matthew Buck <\/em><\/strong>alluded to what the win meant to his side when he spoke to the media post match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s nice reward for effort,\u201d Buck said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s been a condensed and busy fixture, which has been hard on the players and it\u2019s asked them to be incredibly professional and diligent with the way they approach games and go about that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOn the back of that, we\u2019ve had some tough losses in the season. I can\u2019t fault our group, their professionalism and their hunger to still get better and turn up and be a connected side has been terrific and I think we showed that this afternoon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n It was extra pleasing for Buck that his side got the win despite them having a slow start to the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe knew coming here Freo are a strong contested side. Their clearance game is really strong, with Mim Strom in the ruck, who\u2019s an excellent player, so it was about how do we combat that?\u201d Buck said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe started the game a little bit slow and to work our way back into it, hold them goalless in the second quarter was a great defensive effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAcross the board, I thought we were consistent in our contest all day and ended up with the reward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Buck explained the moves he made at three quarter time to try and pull off the upset win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe had to score to win the game. To execute that, we probably dropped some numbers away from the stoppage to open the game up a little bit more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cKerryn Peterson<\/a> goes into the middle of the ground, Maddy Guerin<\/a> goes forward. I thought Kerryn had great impact in the last and helped contribute to the couple of goals we got.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Buck shares his reactions when Keely Sherar kicked the winning goal to win the game and how proud he was of Sherar\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cReally proud of Keely, who\u2019s one of the youngsters that we have in our side who\u2019s had a terrific year to date.
