AS THE AFL Women\u2019s season starts to wind down, clubs are starting to award their club best and fairest awards, recognising the stars of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this new series from Rookie Me Central, we take a look at the seasons of these club champions and what led them to have such stellar seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Next up, we take a look at the season of star Saint Jaimee Lambert<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lambert has come away from another solid season with her second St Kilda Best and Fairest Award in as many seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She polled 66 votes to win the award from second place Jesse Wardlaw<\/strong> and third place Tyanna<\/strong> Smith<\/strong>, with Serene Watson<\/strong>, Molly McDonald <\/strong>and Paige Trudgeon<\/strong> rounding out the top five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Best and Fairest was not the only award Lambert won on the night, sharing the fan-voted Sainter of the Year Award with Wardlaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lambert has only been a Saint for two seasons now but she has sure made a massive impact on the team this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stamping herself as a true leader and focal point at her new club, but Lambert really is a no fuss player who would rather just get on with the job and see her team succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In terms of Lambert\u2019s numbers for the year, she posted a career high 51 clearances at an average of 4.6 per game, which although that is a slightly lower average than last year that may simply be because Lambert played one extra game in 2024. However Lambert did increase her averages for disposals, tackles and metres gained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lambert really is the focal point of the St Kilda midfield. She is the one always at the bottom of packs, working hard to get the ball out to the speedsters who can take the ball and really just run with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, to truly maximise what she can do and really give the Saints the best advantage, Lambert probably could do with a little more support. Smith is a good and helpful supporting figure, but is not quite the same type of player as Lambert so if they could bring in someone more like Lambert \u2013 which they have perhaps done today with trading in Nicola Barr<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 that could be really beneficial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n
