{"id":177975,"date":"2024-12-17T07:44:48","date_gmt":"2024-12-16T21:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/central.rookieme.com\/afl\/?p=177975"},"modified":"2024-12-17T07:44:48","modified_gmt":"2024-12-16T21:44:48","slug":"scholz-powers-to-port-best-and-fairest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/central.rookieme.com\/afl\/2024\/12\/17\/scholz-powers-to-port-best-and-fairest\/","title":{"rendered":"Scholz Powers to Port Best and Fairest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>WITH the AFL Women\u2019s season coming to a close, clubs are starting to award their club champions, recognising the stars of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this new series from&nbsp;<em>Rookie Me Central<\/em>, we take a look at the seasons of each best and fairest winner and what led them to have such stellar seasons.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the next edition of our series, we look at <a data-type=\"player\" data-id=\"85583\" class=\"_dc_spo\" href=\"\/afl\/player\/matilda-scholz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matilda Scholz<\/a> who won Port Adelaide&#8217;s Best and Fairest medal in her second season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scholz won the award six votes ahead of previous winner <strong>Abbey Dowrick<\/strong>, with <strong>Ashleigh<\/strong> <strong>Saint<\/strong> finishing in third. The top five was rounded out with fellow youngster <strong>Shineah Goody<\/strong> and defender <strong>Amelie Borg<\/strong> placing strongly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winning the League&#8217;s Rising Star as well as the Mark of the Year, Scholz has not had a case of the second year blues flourishing within the young side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 19-year-old has become one of the brightest young talents of the competition, averaging 22 hit-outs, 13.4 disposals and 4.6 clearances a game.
