PORT ADELAIDE had the largest list turnovers prior to Trade Week with a massive four retirements and a further four players being delisted or self-delisted. Former Rising Star Hannah Ewings<\/a> crossed to Adelaide, with Sydney defender Ella Heads<\/a> the sole inclusion alongside five current list spots and four new picks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIRST PICK:<\/strong>

In an ideal scenario, Port Adelaide would scoop up Poppy Scholz<\/a> to pair with sister Matilda, or get fellow tall Charlotte Riggs<\/a> to Alberton. Both seem near impossible to be available, which means the Power will turn their attention to other talent be it local or abroad. From the former, Central District skilled midfielder\/forward Jasmine Evans<\/a> would be around the mark, as would talented small forward Georgia McKee<\/a> if left on the board by the Crows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of South Australia, adding a player of Sarah Poustie<\/a>‘s quality would be helpful for Port Adelaide given her running capacity, while rebounding talls such as Taya Chambers<\/a> and Mackenzie Williams<\/a> might come into the Power’s thought process at the selection which will be bumped back at least two spots with bids on Academy and father-daughter prospects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remaining four selections will all take place from late in the second round and then throughout the third round, meaning Port’s recruitment team will need to get to work. A readymade key defensive option is South Adelaide’s Tiffany King<\/a>, while the Power have no qualms looking further west for readymade mature-age options, with South Fremantle’s Poppy Stockwell<\/a> able to play a similar forward role to Ewings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The likes of Laela Ebert<\/a> and Ruby Ballard<\/a> add points of difference to the side, while project key forward Chloe Gaunt<\/a> is a player who could be developed into something special and is a like-for-like for Georgie Jaques<\/strong>. Is this the year a SANFLW mature-age player such as Jess Bates<\/a>, Tahlita Buethke<\/a> or Emily Brockhurst<\/a> gets a chance? It will be fascinating to see if the preliminary finalists go down that route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
