A TRIO of Victorians will head west to join the Purple Army, with the National Draft paying dividends for the Dockers. They scooped up some incredible height across their four selections, with Fremantle also picking the younger sister of its 2024 AFLW best and fairest winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georgie Brisbane<\/a> Height was on the menu for Fremantle’s recruiting team at the 2024 AFLW Draft, with all four selections standing at 175cm or above. Funnily enough the tall forward was the smallest of the four in Georgie Brisbane<\/strong>, but she provides an incredible aerial presence and athleticism that helps her standout on the field. She is great overhead, hits the scoreboard and works up the ground too. In 2024, she captained Eastern Ranges and co-captained Vic Metro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Brisbane’s Ranges and Metro teammate Evie Parker <\/strong>was picked up at number 38, with the 179cm winger adding serious wheels to any side. She finds space well and transitions the ball from defence to offence, setting up teammates in the front half of the ground. She and Brisbane will continue their journey out west together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wedged between those two picks was Murray Bushrangers’ defender Holly Egan<\/strong>. The sister of Richmond’s Grace, Egan is athletic and smart, able to intercept off half-back and drive the ball down the ground. She can also play through midfield and attack, but has predominantly mopped up behind the ball and cleared the danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With the final selection, the Dockers looked close to home, with South Fremantle mature-ager Indi Strom<\/strong> getting her opportunity. The 20-year-old is the younger sister of 2024 Dockers’ best and fairest winner Mim<\/em><\/strong>, and plays as a key defender for the Bulldogs at WAFLW level. She will further add height to the back half alongside Egan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking ahead to 2025, it will be fascinating to see which players can slot in early and which will take time.
