Played with the boys for two years and in Year 8 came back to the girls team, played there. Then was at South Fremantle since I was 14 and played there for three years, and then moved to East Perth and been there for three as well.”

Q: How have you found the experience coming through the pathways.?

EB: “Yeah it’s been good. When I went to South Freo I was in a lot of state programs so I think just development wise it’s been really, really good. Then coming to East Perth and growing with the girls, starting the team, it’s really good as well.”

Q: What do you see as some of the strengths in your game?

EB: “I think my run and carry is probably my biggest strength, and my kicking ability as well.”

Q: What do you see as your main improvement?

EB: “I think fitness, just being able to just be fitter in general. It just makes the game easier.”

Q: Who do you look up to at the top level?

EB: “Ella Roberts.”

EB: Which AFL/W club do you support?

EB: “Eagles.”

Q: I believe you got to be a train-on with West Coast, how was that experience?

EB: “Yeah, I got asked at the end of last season, was a pretty big surprise. I grew so much with my footy learning from them girls. Bella (Lewis) was a really big help there. I knew most of the girls from state, but just being able to play with them and learn off them and bring it back to East Perth was good.”

Q: Finally, what goals have you set for this year?

EB: “I think just trying to get noticed. Hoping to go back to training with them after this season and then just getting fitter.”

Mentions

Emily Boothman

EAST Perth’s Emily Boothman has experienced plenty of different footballing scenarios over the last few years, with the 20-year-old having started her junior career at South Fremantle, moving thorough the West Australian state programs, then crossing to East Perth when the Royals entered the WAFLW.
