At the Under 16 Championships she played a similar style to Amy Franklin in the fact she could clunk huge marks but still beat plenty of opponents for both athleticism and speed once the ball hit the deck.

Standing at 181cm, Wolmarans’ aggression in the air is a highlight of her game, but she can equally do damage in transition because of her mobility. Working on her endurance as well as consistency through her contested marking and overall profile, Wolmarans’ best is as good as anyone’s going around.

She provides a spark up forward, can kick multiple goals in quick succession and showed against East Perth in Round 1 last year that a six-goal game is not beyond her. On top of her work at WAFL Women’s level and for Western Australia at the National Championships where she booted four goals, Wolmarans won MVP for her side in the Under 17 Futures match where she starred up forward.

Going into 2025, Wolmarans has the capacity to take her game to another level and with an increased endurance base, can hurt opposition teams for longer. With enviable traits that so few her size have, it will be an exciting year to see just how much she can grow for club and state, as well as when competing in the National Academy matches.

Mentions

Olivia Wolmarans

CONCLUDING our countdown of 15 WAFL Women’s players to watch is a highly talented forward/ruck in Subiaco’s Olivia Wolmarans.
