WOODVILLE-West Torrens continued its remarkable start to the SANFL Women’s season to become the sole undefeated side, while South Adelaide ended the Bloods’ streak, and Sturt got on the board in 2025. We recap the other Round 3 matches that took place in the SANFLW over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
>> SANFLW Round 3 MOTR: <\/strong>Norwood breaks through for first SANFLW win of 2025<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n OTHER ROUND 3 RESULTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n An eight-goal third quarter set Woodville-West Torrens up with a massive nine-goal win over Central District to officially throw their hat in the ring as a serious contender in 2025. The Eagles navigated a heavy breeze to make it three straight at Ottoway, this time dismantling a Bulldogs side unable to take its chances when the time came.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Central District might have kicked the only goal against the breeze in the match – with the other 14 keeping the goal umpire at that end busy – but the Eagles fully took advantage in the premiership quarter, booting 8.2 to 0.1 to eclipse their club record in a quarter. They would go on to also record their highest score and biggest in in history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Leading from the front in that third quarter, Imogen Trengove<\/a> kicked all three of her majors that involved sidestepping or bursting away before calmly slotting them on the run. She provided the spark as the midfield of Christina Leuzzi<\/a>, Lucy Moore<\/a> and Poppy Waterford<\/a> worked incredibly well at the feet of the experienced Leah Cutting<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It was tough day out for the Bulldogs, losing Tara Lord<\/a> to injury early and the usually strong midfield unable to match it with the Eagles. Bottom-ager Miyu Endersby<\/a> was a shining light after moving into the ruck, while Dakota Williams<\/a> and Tesharna Maher<\/a> tried hard all day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Eagles remain at home, but are back at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval on Saturday when they host Norwood, while Central District sets its sights on South Adelaide at Magain Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n WOODVILLE-WEST TORRENS 4.4 | 4.6 | 12.8 | 12.9 (81) GOALS: RMC BEST: <\/p>\n\n\n\n Sturt achieved a much-needed victory on the weekend leaving opponents Glenelg as the sole side yet to taste a win in season 2025. The Double Blues looked the better side from the jump, and completely shut out Glenelg’s impressive attacking lineup. Holding the Bays’ goalless all match, the Double Blues had some challenges with the breeze, but were able to stay ahead for long enough to kick four goals with it and secure the 4.8 (32) to 0.6 (6) win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Double Blues went into the match missing three quality players around the ball with ruck Jasmin Fejo<\/a> and midfielders Alisha Gepp<\/a> and Monique Bessen<\/a> all missing. In their absence, Isobel Kuiper<\/a> grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and had seven clearances midway through the second term to finish with 13 and a massive 36 disposals. She also laid 16 tackles, working hard with youngster Sophie Thredgold<\/a> who was super defensively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Georgia Swan<\/a> and Claudia Edmonds<\/a> also impressed running in waves, while the left-footed Georgia King<\/a> looked incredibly dangerous up forward. Jessica Bates<\/a> (27 disposals, 13 tackles, 10 clearances, four inside 50s and three rebounds 50s) and Ellie Kellock<\/a> (23 disposals, 10 tackles, four clearances and four rebound 50s) worked tirelessly, while teenager Asha Dufour<\/a> was huge around the coalface with nine clearances and nine tackles for 21 disposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Glenelg will head to Prospect Oval next Saturday to lock horns with the Roosters, while Sturt plays host to West Adelaide back at Unley on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n STURT 2.1 | 2.3 | 4.6 | 4.8 (32) GOALS:<\/strong> RMC BEST: <\/p>\n\n\n\n South Adelaide bounced back from a surprise loss last week at home against North Adelaide to get on track with a hard-fought road victory over West Adelaide. After conceding the first two goals of the game, South Adelaide’s famed defence kicked up a notch and restricted the Bloods to just three behinds in the last three quarters while booting 4.5 to win in a low-scoring, tight 14-point tussle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a match that was a struggle for both teams to crack through strong defences, South kicked the only goal of the second half, coming off the boot of Abby Woodward<\/a> in the 13th minute of the quarter. That sealed the win for the Panthers and took their season record to 2-1, which is what the Bloods moved to after their first defeat of the 2025 SANFLW season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In-form bottom-ager Emma Charlton<\/a> continued her outstanding start to 2025 with another big performance of 26 touches, 10 tackles, seven clearances and five rebound 50s, working hard both ways. Star ruck Soriah Moon<\/a> feasted around the stoppages with a massive 26 hitouts and 13 clearances with 24 touches and eight tackles, while another midfielder in Caitlin Couch<\/a> also used the ball well and was fierce. Taya Maxwell<\/a> combined well with Moon in the middle and finished with 17 hitouts herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n West Adelaide midfielders Emily Mableson<\/a> (24 disposals, five marks, four clearances and four rebound 50s) and Zoe Venning<\/a> (24 disposals, eight marks, 12 tackles, five clearances, five inside 50s and five rebound 50s) were superb, while top-ager Lucy Waye<\/a> had another great game up forward with 18 disposals, five marks and three tackles.
