CLAREMONT’s hard-fought win over East Fremantle earned the Tigers a league-high five representatives in our Round 3 WAFL Women’s Team of the Week as seven of the eight clubs in action had multiple representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tigers five-strong representation included this week’s vice-captain Sarah Viney<\/a> who was instrumental through the midfield. She is deputy to South Fremantle midfielder Tahleah Mulder<\/a> who earned a league-high 34 disposals during South Fremantle’s victory over Peel Thunder. One of her opponents Ebony Bilcich<\/a> rounds out the starting on-ball group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Claremont’s midfield bats deep, and Sasha Goranova<\/a> also made the side, as did defender-midfielder Mackenzie Webb<\/a>, utility Juliet Kelly<\/a> and dynamic forward Jacinta Valentini<\/a> all of whom spend time around the ball at different points. Two-time Dhara Kerr Medalist Jayme Harken<\/a> was also close to making it but was just squeezed out to emergency by the strength of the on-ball group this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n South Fremantle was one of four teams with three representatives, as defender Lauren Vecchio<\/a> and Fremantle wing Holly Ifould<\/a> both had standout games against the Thunder. Midfielder Alyssa Smogavec<\/a> was also in the extended squad, named as an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Subiaco was the sole side to have four players in the side, with players across most lines. Hali Epis<\/a> was named at centre half-back, three-goal forward Layla Quinn-Schofield<\/a> was an easy choice inside 50, while Paige Sheppard<\/a> was named at half-forward and is a crucial part of the midfield rotation. Versatile Maggie MacLachlan<\/a> was among those on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The other Round 3 winner was West Perth, with top-age talent Mia Russo<\/a> kicking two goals in her standout game from the 2025 season, clearly best on ground in the Falcons’ victory over Perth. At times her direct opponent, Holly Britton<\/a> was the sole Perth representative in the side – with Fina Dethlefsen<\/a> named as emergency – while the Falcons made up half the forward line as Chloe Metcalf<\/a> and Jamarah Walley<\/a> combined for five goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Going down in that tough loss to Claremont, East Fremantle ruck Brooke Repacholi<\/a> earned a maiden Team of the Week appearance after 32 hitouts from 11 disposals in a strong performance at the stoppages. Defender Maya Louvel-Finn<\/a> – making it three appearances to start the season – and the experienced Jae Flynn<\/a> both earned spots as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Peel Thunder had an additional two players on top of Bilcich in the squad with familiar Team of the Week representative Evie Cowcher<\/a> named at full-back, while Chloe Wrigley<\/a> slotted onto the bench.
