The general down back for the Bulldogs, tall defender Cattalini was a marking machine, plucking 14 grabs for the day to go with his 24 disposals. A calm and smart read of the ball from Thunder inside 50s allowed him to intercept many an attacking chance, utilising his clean hands above his head both in and out of the marking contest. Regularly the last line of defence and first stage of attack, Cattalini finished off with the third most disposals for the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clearly man of the match, Whan was absolutely incredible at all stages of this game. After a modest affair in Round 1, the Fremantle NGA prospect flaunted his blend of inside and outside work in the midfield, combined with elite athleticism. Pairing these traits with his leadership by voice and actions, composure on the ball and intelligent decision making, there were absolutely no holes in Whan\u2019s performance. Highlighting this performance in just the first five minutes, Whan took an incredible side-on specky inside 50 and converted a tough set shot to set the tone for he and his side\u2019s performance. Having stuffed the stats sheet, Whan looks set to cement himself as a starting option in the midfield for Western Australia at this year’s national carnival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#24 Latrell Yarran<\/strong>

Slotting over a third of the Bulldog\u2019s goals in this game, Yarran\u2019s first game of the season got him off to a hot start. A modern small forward, Yarran\u2019s four majors came from a mix of crumbing brilliance and presenting as a lead-up target. Adding to this was a strong showing of forward pressure and the ability to bring his teammates into the game, as the over-ager did everything he could to push South Fremantle over the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming alive in the second quarter especially, Robinson\u2019s speed and effort as a diminutive winger was on show for all in this affair. Nimble and zippy with good composure, Robinson regularly broke the game open with his clearance work on the outside. Additionally, he was seen playing a defensive role on Whan at around the ground stoppages to mixed success, showcasing potential to play a shutdown style role at stoppages in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#5 Matthew Becker<\/strong>

Leading the disposals for his side, Becker played a fairly no nonsense role off half-back and along the outside of the ground. Racking up 31 disposals with 21 kicks, Becker\u2019s good ball use and decision making saw him entrusted with kick-out duties at times throughout the game. Able to play a taller role defensively, Becker presents as a potential hybrid defender if and when his side is faced with a taller opposition attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
#26 Mitchell Stirling<\/strong>

Large and in charge at full back, this bottom-age prospect monstered the contest throughout the game, displaying great marking capabilities in the pack. Such marking ability, alongside a good kick and sensible decision making, made Stirling a regular thorn in South Fremantle\u2019s attacking efforts. Though he may have lost his head in a small brawl in the third quarter, Stirling recovered to finish the game back to his defensively mature best in just his second game of WAFL Colts football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AROUND THE GROUNDS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Despite losing its best player to AFL Academy duties, Claremont still got the job done over East Fremantle with ease. High-disposal performances from Max Hansen-Knarhoi<\/strong> (31) and Jackson Cattalini<\/strong> (27) were the highlights of the stat sheet for Claremont, alongside another dominant ruck performance from Benji van Rooyen<\/strong> with 14 disposals and 29 hitouts. Robert Farmer <\/strong>also impressed with three goals. For the Sharks, League hopeful Luke Carrello<\/strong> managed 21 disposals, while Kaydn Wilson<\/strong> and Lucas Clarkson<\/strong> both finished with two goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A tight affair until the last moments, the clash between East Perth and Swan Districts proved a fairly quiet game for big numbers. Fletcher Brown<\/strong> finished with 16 disposals, 10 marks and two goals for the Royals, as Zac Ransom<\/strong> also impressed with 3.3. For the Swans, it was Liam Hrabar<\/strong> who led all comers on the stats sheet with 33 disposals, seven inside 50s, and two goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
West Perth\u2019s three top disposal getters from last week all managed 25-plus disposals against Perth. Sam Swadling<\/strong> led them all with 36 disposals, alongside Jacob Farrow<\/strong> (27 and a goal) and Cooper Bewick<\/strong> (25 disposals). Tall timbre Judd Marcello<\/strong> joined them this week, tallying 26 disposals, seven marks, seven tackles and a goal in a dominant first appearance of the season. Missing Koby Evans <\/strong>to AFL Academy duties, Xavier Bianchini <\/strong>topped the charts for Perth with 21 disposals, while Cassius Hill<\/strong>, James Cameron<\/strong>, Kye Horan<\/strong> and Dylan Dunlop<\/strong> all finished with two goals.<\/p>\n
