THE SANFL has finalised a 29-player Under 20 squad to partake in the annual Youth Game against South Australia’s Under 18s on Saturday May 17. Taking place at Norwood Oval, the clash acts as a Mid-Season Draft audition for the more senior group, while the junior outfit jells ahead of the National Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A range of SANFL League regulars will feature in the team, including Phoenix Hargrave<\/a> (South Adelaide) and Kade Herbert<\/a> (Woodville-West Torrens), who had both debuted before this season. They are part of the significant portion of players to have come through SA’s Under 18 side over the last two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Under 18 captain Will Patton<\/a> will again turn out for the Under 20s as he continues to carve out a career in West Adelaide’s senior team. He was part of the 2023 AFL Academy alongside Tasmanian Jack Callinan<\/a> – son of Centrals champion, Ian<\/em><\/strong>. The pair will once again line up in matching guernseys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each SANFL club is represented in the squad, with South Adelaide boasting a high of six representatives. Central District, Sturt, and Woodville-West Torrens contributed four players apiece. AFL-aligned teams Adelaide and Port Adelaide will be represented by Ned Atkinson<\/a> and Rome Burgoyne<\/a> respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Under 20 team will begin convening from May 4 with recovery sessions then and the following Sunday (May 11), before getting into training on Wednesday May 14. The session takes place at Adelaide University Oval No. 2. The match will be streamed exclusively via Kommunity TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
