NORWOOD and Central District broke through for vital wins, as ladder leaders Woodville-West Torrens made it six of the best as the Eagles’ dream season continued. We recap the remaining three games across the SANFL Women’s competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norwood had more chances and deserved the four points over Glenelg, though with plenty of numbers around each contest and then back in both defences, scoring was at a premium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Up until Armistead’s successful set shot, just two goals had been put on the board despite the match having 62 inside 50 entries. It showed a willingness to get the ball down the ground, but unable to convert, with Norwood’s nine scoring shots to three eventually being enough. The Redlegs did dominate both the hitouts (37-17) and clearances (29-15) as both sides tried different things to get on top in the bottom two clash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Norwood once again had an even contribution across the board, with Charlee Brooksby<\/a> starring in the first half driving the ball out of defence, while fellow teenagers Charli Hazelhurst<\/a> – finishing with a game-high six clearances – and Coby Morgan<\/a> were both electric, while the experience of Jade Halfpenny<\/a> and Lana Schwerdt<\/a> was important around the coalface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Glenelg star onballer Jessica Bates<\/a> spent a lot of time forward – and Glenelg’s clearance numbers were effected – but it should a secondary role for the powerful accumulator, as Marie Martino<\/a> found plenty of the ball in her place. Bates still managed the 22 touches, seven tackles, three clearances and four inside 50s, while Martino (25 disposals, five marks and two clearances) was lively. Young gun Georgie Fielder<\/a> had her moments, as Ash Dyer-Pietsch<\/a> was instrumental from defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After the league-wide bye, Glenelg has a tough home against Woodville-West Torrens, while Norwood faces third placed North Adelaide at Prospect Oval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n GLENELG 0.0 | 1.1 | 1.2 | 1.2 (8) GOALS: RMC BEST: <\/p>\n\n\n\n Central District answered any challenge West Adelaide threw down to win the battle of the two sides who were on three-game losing streaks. The Dogs gained the vital two points to move percentage inside the top four, while West Adelaide suffered a fourth straight defeat, this time to Central District by 14 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The three-pronged Central District attack of Lauren Breguet<\/a> (three goals), Katelyn Rosenzweig<\/a> (two) and Alysha Healy<\/a> (two) worked a treat for the visitors, as Dakota Williams<\/a> and Laitiah Huynh<\/a> played some of their best games to really steer the Dogs to victory. The return of defenders Madison Lane<\/a> and Mikaylah Antony<\/a> made all the difference in the victory as Central District returned to some of its most damaging football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n West Adelaide’s Zoe Venning<\/a> was at the forefront for the Bloods in resisting the impressive Dogs. racking up 26 disposals, six clearances, three inside 50s and laying four tackles, while sisters Hannah Button<\/a> and Rachelle Martin<\/a> were both strong around the contest and up forward. Lucy Waye<\/a> added terrific forward pressure and kicked a goal, while fellow State Academy members Chloe Tonkin<\/a> and Emily Mableson<\/a> were also influential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Central District plays host to South Adelaide in a fortnight, while West Adelaide will be keen to get back on the winner’s list when the Bloods host Sturt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n WEST ADELAIDE 1.3 | 1.5 | 2.8 | 4.10 (34) GOALS: RMC BEST: <\/p>\n\n\n\n Woodville-West Torrens just reminded the competition of its potency in 2025 with a comprehensive 41-point victory over North Adelaide at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval on Saturday. The Eagles shook off an early resistance from the Roosters to boot eight goals to two after quarter time and storm to a big win off the back of a couple of individual starring efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a successful return, McKenzie Dowrick<\/a> slammed home four goals and narrowly missed a couple from her nine touches to be an imposing threat up forward, with Rosette Zerella<\/a> (two) and Klaudia O’Neill<\/a> (one) posing more than a few headaches for the Roosters defence. But it was the work through the midfield of in-form onballer Christina Leuzzi<\/a> who starred with 26 touches, five tackles, seven clearances and four inside 50s, working well alongside ruck Leah Cutting<\/a> (20 disposals, 39 hitouts, seven clearances and six inside 50s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n North Adelaide threw Laela Ebert<\/a> behind the ball to create some class and run on her way to 25 touches, three marks, four tackles, four rebound 50s and a goal, as Julia Clark<\/a> and Caitlin Hardin<\/a> combined for 26 disposals and 13 clearances in the loss.
