SOUTH Adelaide’s big win over Sturt earned the Panthers a league-high five representatives in our SANFL Women’s Team of the Week for Round 6, as they lead the likes of Central District and Woodville-West Torrens (four) while all eight sides had multiple representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was Eagles’ ruck Leah Cutting<\/a> who earned the captaincy for Round 6, switching places with South Adelaide’s Soriah Moon<\/a> in the starting role after 20 disposals, three marks (one contested), four tackles, 39 hitouts, seven clearances, six inside 50s and two rebound 50s against the Roosters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Moon instead was named in the centre having also played as a midfielder at times. She was superb once again, recording 27 disposals, three marks (one contested), four tackles, 23 hitouts, eight clearances and three inside 50s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It was a vastly different looking side to usual with plenty of fresh faces, though some steady heads remain. Eagles midfielder Christina Leuzzi<\/a> is one of the latter after another starring role in her side’s win, recording 26 disposals, five tackles, seven clearances and four inside 50s. She was our vice-captain for the round, while Central District’s Dakota Williams<\/a> started on-ball following her huge nine-clearance, 11-tackle performance from 21 touches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Williams’ teammate Laitiah Huynh<\/a> was named on the wing having had another huge game in midfield with 25 disposals, five marks, four tackles, four inside 50s and five rebound 50s, with Norwood’s Sarah Branford<\/a> on the other wing. Branford was one of two Redlegs in the side along with defender\/ruck Georgie Jaques<\/a>, while the other Dogs making the side were three-goal hero Lauren Breguet<\/a> and returning reliable defender, Madison Lane<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the Eagles, ex-AFLW forward McKenzie Dowrick<\/a> made a huge return to the SANGLW slotting four goals in the win over North, while midfielder\/forward Marlie Fiegert<\/a> was important and named on the bench. For the Roosters, defender Laela Ebert<\/a> provided plenty of drive from the back half, while second-gamer Caitlin Hardin<\/a> made her Team of the Week debut on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n South Adelaide boasted more names in the 24-strong squad than any other team, and it was fitting that along with Moon, 100-game defender Jaslynne Smith<\/a> stepped up to slot into centre half-back. Contested marking forward Lucy Northcott<\/a> (three goals) and Shae Archbold<\/a> (two) were named inside 50, while Emma Charlton<\/a>‘s terrific season rolled on with a spot on the interchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n West Adelaide had the highest contingent from the losing sides with a trio of players in the team. Hard-working forward Lucy Waye<\/a> made the starting side, as Bloods duo Hannah Button<\/a> and Chloe Tonkin<\/a> were squeezed to the bench but still caught the eye.
