Sutherland showed real promise early, producing some nice body spoils, a good pack mark and restricted his opponent’s impact. His rebounding was an asset, albeit heavily guarded by a Subiaco side that was on top of the home team from the word go. There were some moments where Sutherland left his man alone in a bid to get the ball out of defensive 50, which ultimately led to a goal against, though it was clear Sutherland was looking to get the ball forward with intent and arrest some momentum back for his side.

#20 Nathan Cameron
Midfielder | 183cm | 16/10/2006

Stats: 27 disposals, 8 marks, 4 tackles, 3 inside 50s

In a woefully disappointing performance from Perth, Cameron was one of the few who stood tall and continued to work with the same intensity from minute one to minute 100. In and out of the packs, Cameron looked at his best on the outside of the contest, where he could use his measured disposal and vision to pick out a teammate, and help his side slow down the onslaught and maintain possession.

SUBIACO:

#3 Dwayne Ryder
Small Forward | 170cm | 05/07/2007

Stats: 10 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 1 inside 50, 4 goals

The archetype small forward game, Ryder was the main benefactor of Subiaco’s dominance in possession and moving the ball forward. Looking unbeatable one-on-one, Ryder’s goals came from a blend of set shots and crumbing his own dropped marks. Nailing the first three of the game was a real tone-setter from Ryder, though the best of his goals came at the end of the second half when he followed up his dropped mark outside the goal square to run, jump and volley the ball out of mid air and through the goals.

#7 Hudson Walker
Midfielder/Forward | 179cm | 06/09/2007

Stats: 24 disposals, 2 marks, 1 tackle, 7 inside 50s, 3 goals

In for his second Colts game of the season, off the back of two League games in the first two rounds, Walker more than lived up to expectations. Fast, agile, clean and relentless with his pressure, Walker was an absolute headache for opposition midfielders and defenders. His two-way work rate became a real feature of the game, applying pressure at every contest and helping his side work the ball forward, managing seven inside 50s from his 24 disposals. Really coming alive in the third quarter, any mistake Walker made by disposal was almost immediately rectified by a great effort to follow his kick and impact the contest, resulting in one of his three goals.

#12 Rydn Rae-Anthonysz
Defender | 181cm | 24/03/2007

Stats: 24 disposals, 7 marks, 2 tackles

Truly one of the unlucky ones to miss State selection, Rae-Anthonysz’ third game in defence showed real improvements from an already strong Round 1 performance. Maintaining his elite run and carry out of defence, while showcasing some now trademark stepping and weaving around tackles. The improvements came with his defensive work, taking big marks, dominating on the ground balls and barely letting his man have a sniff of the ball. Having to work so hard for every inside 50 they managed, Perth will be having nightmares for how regularly Rae-Anthonysz’ was there to sweep up, take possession and move the ball forward with ease.

#17 Wesley Walley
Forward | 182cm | 29/11/2007

Stats: 14 disposals, 6 marks, 5 tackles, 1 inside 50, 2 goals, 2 behinds

A slower game on the disposal charts than usual, Walley maintained his class-above look. Ever so silky and composed on the ball, Walley looks unfazed by opposition pressure and regularly makes astute decisions with his disposal around the ground and near the goals.
